In the elevated mossy forests of Mount Apo, time moves to the quiet rhythm of nature. Sunlight filter softly through the towering mossy canopy, casting an ethereal, golden-green glow over the lush undergrowth below.
At the heart of this sanctuary stands a majestic Tree Fern (Alsophila Apoensis), locally known as Pakong Buwaya, its delicate fronds unfurling like a leafy crown toward the light. Rooted in the rich soil of the mountain, it serves as a silent monument to the enduring beauty and vitality of the island's high-altitude wilderness.
Perched gracefully atop the highest crown of the fern is the enigmatic Apo Myna (Mt. Apo Starling). With its dark, iridescent plumage gleaming against the vibrant backdrop and bright yellow accents framing its gaze, the bird stands watchful and serene. It is a true child of the mountain—rare, free, and deeply tethered to this unique haven.
Together, the tree fern and the Apo Myna embody a moment of still harmony: a quiet sanctuary where wildlife and wild flora breathe as one, capturing the living heart of Mt. Apo.
