A handsome 18th-century French silver coin struck during the final years of Louis XV's long reign. Bearing the portrait of Louis XV, “Louis the Beloved,” this denomination belonged to the écu au bandeau series that circulated throughout Bourbon France before the transition to the vieille tête type.
