Even Fernando Amorsolo’s paintings reportedly sold for around ₱50 during the 1940s, while José Joya’s Space Transfiguration reportedly sold for only ₱350 in 1959 before becoming one of the most valuable works in Philippine art.

Art prices grow through skill, consistency, history, demand, recognition, and the artist’s body of work. This is why artists need a clear and consistent pricing structure—not random pricing. 🎨

HOW TO PRICE YOUR PAINTINGS?

Sharing his perspective on , artist Erikson Arcilla explained that painters had almost no idea how to set the value of their paintings. He said professional painters should have a pricing structure, and art galleries can help them.

Arcilla said that solo, exhibit, and group shows boost painting values. The more people look for paintings, the more value is added. The greater the demand, the more justified incremental increases in painting prices are.
