When things don't go the way we want it, sometimes all we notice are the cracks. The places where we feel broken. The flaws we think make us undesirable. And it makes us feel like we're falling apart. As if becoming something presentable is no longer possible.
But what if the cracks we see are just traces of Him reshaping us?
Isaiah 64:8 reminds us,
“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand."
He is the Potter. He doesn’t throw away the clay just because it doesn't look good. He doesn’t see the cracks as irredeemable failure. He sees them as places and opportunities to reshape, to mold, and to make something new again.
And Jeremiah 18:4 confirms that:
"But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over."
We are clay, not concrete. That means we can still be reshaped. It's just that sometimes, what once worked no longer serves who you're becoming, and that's okay. His hands are gentle but strong, steady on the wheel, and patient with the process.
Finding cracks in yourself or the life you envisioned doesn't mean it's over. That only means there's still room for something new. Allowing yourself to surrender and accept the new thing He's doing in your life means you're trusting the One who can restore, reshape and remold it.
God is gentle with the pieces. He knows what to do with them. Just be patient and allow Him to remold you. He’s still at work. And in His hands, every crack becomes part of the story of the masterpiece called "you."
