REALLY USEFUL PHRASES WHEN SHOPPING IN CHINA 🇨🇳
You've probably heard, read, or seen the words that we're going to share here, but there's a reason why there are always listed in many other travel articles or phrasebooks you've read.

It's because these phrases are the ones that get truly used, the ones that get a reaction from locals, and the ones that actually do something when you say them.

USEFUL PHRASES:

1. nǐ hǎo 你好 = Hello!
You will be greeted by this when you enter shops or buy things from small stalls. As respect, you can say it back!

2. duō shǎo qián 多少钱 = how much is this?
Don't worry if you don't know the numbers they will say back. They usually show you the price on their calculators, especially if you're looking very much like a foreigner.

3. bù yòng le, xiè xie 不用了,谢谢 = No, thank you.
Use this to politely decline. Some vendors can be quite persistent.

4. wǒ yào zhège / nàge 我要这个/那个 = I want this/that
Pair it with pointing your fingers at whatever you want.

Gentle Ways to Start Reading Again in a Busy Adult Life

1. Read a short story. Read 10 minutes a day. Read a chapter a day.
When you're rebuilding the habit, consistency matters more than big goals.

2. Read what you think you will enjoy.

3. Carry something to read.
Always make reading an availabel option.

4. Find other readers.
A book club can make reading more fun and keep you reading.
If you're looking for one in Metro Manila, we have a monthly meetup!
