Word And Life Publications Word & Life Publications is an apostolic activity of the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco. At the John Bosco in the Philippines.

It has been in the service of evangelization and catechesis since 1989, spreading God’s Word through the different forms of Mass Media. Its field of action is the Ministry of the Word, particularly Evangelization and Catechesis, both formal and informal. This apostolate is carried out through all the means of Social Communication, especially print media, in response to the needs of the local Churc

h, in coordination with the national and local hierarchy, and with the cooperation of committed Catholic individuals and organizations. Its publications are characterized by their being rooted in the word of God, and Christ-centered; their faithfulness to the teaching of the Church; and their special emphasis on Philippine culture, values and situations, as well as the condition, needs, and aspirations of the young.

AUG. 9, 2026 -- 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (A)
P R A Y E R / PERSONAL REFLECTION

I thank you, Lord, for the many times
you saved me from the ferocious gales and waves
that were about to devour me with their insatiable jaws -- the days when all was dark and stormy;
when friends melted away or watched from a safe distance, while numberless enemies attacked me on all sides.

Thank you for lifting me up like a caring mother
or like a majestic eagle with its powerful wings.
When I was about to fall into merciless ravines
you carried me over oceans and plains and gently
laid me down on peaks of safety that delighted me
and revived my spirit with your presence and grace.

Thank you for leading me to believe in you and myself in the midst of so much confusion and violence, as new challenges arose to test my mettle.

Thank you for enabling me to keep believing
that life has a direction, a purpose, and a meaning
for as long as you hold my hand and I walk with you in a journey of faithful dedication to your call and trust.

Save me, Lord, from dangers to come.
I know that, even in the future, fierce winds
of opposition and crises may toss me around like a dry leaf. Save me from excessive self-confidence, fruit of pride.

Save me from the storms that are often unleashed
by lack of wisdom in my choices and priorities.
Lead me, instead, to seek and treasure with all my heart only the values of your Gospel and the determination to serve you in my neighbor, in all humility and love.

Give me a compassionate and understanding heart towards those who are battered and smitten,
and succumb under the violence of life’s hardships.

Grant me the privilege to be your co-worker or instrument in rescuing them from whatever threatens and harms them,
until, together, we reach the harbor of peace and joy, where you dwell with your saints and angels. Amen!

Walang masyadong malayo para sa PAG-IBIG ng DIYOS! ❤️

Ang kuwento ni Sta. Maria Magdalena ay isang paalala na ang awa ng Diyos ay hindi nasusukat sa bigat ng ating kasalanan.

Ang Diyos ay hindi naghahanap ng taong perpekto.
Ang hinahanap Niya ay pusong handang bumalik.

Kung sa tingin mo'y napakalaki ng iyong kasalanan
tandaan mo ito

Mas malaki ang pag-ibig ng Diyos.

Walang pagkakamaling hindi kayang patawarin.
Walang pusong hindi kayang baguhin.
Walang taong masyadong malayo para maabot ng Kanyang habag.

Ngayong ipinagdiriwang natin ang Kapistahan ni Sta. Maria Magdalena, nawa'y alisin natin ang takot na lumapit sa Diyos.

Hindi Niya tayo hinihintay upang husgahan,
kundi upang yakapin, patawarin,
at ibalik sa buhay na inihanda Niya para sa atin.

JULY 18, 2026 -- 16TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (A)
P R A Y E R

Strengthen our FAITH, O Lord,
that in the midst of so much evil,
we may never doubt that you are still in control
and that, one day, all evil will be vanquished
and good will triumph forever on earth as in the heavens.

Help us BELIEVE that your grace can heal the weakness and even the wickedness of our hearts.
Help us share your VISION that those who do evil
are not necessarily evil persons, but are mostly victims of the Evil One.

Help us HOPE that they, too, one day, will see the light; will be set free from their slavery to sin,
and start loving and doing what is honest and fair, pure, holy, and true . . . .

Give us COURAGE, Lord, not to surrender to the evil that is so rampant in our world in so many forms.
Give us the STRENGTH that we need to keep on struggling to overcome hatred with love, and evil with good.
Give us WISDOM to understand and HONESTY to admit that evil is not just out there, but also within us.

Help us realize that if we want to overpower
the evil that is around us, we must first conquer
the roots of evil that are nested, and often cleverly disguised, deep within our soul, our heart, and our will.

Lord, you know, even better than we do, how frail we are. But, with the help of your GRACE, we can become what you and we want us to be. And thus, together, we will fight the battle of light against darkness, of truth against lies, of good against evil, until your KINGDOM comes in its fullness,
in us and around us, without a shadow of sin or guilt.

And as the triumph of your eternal justice
dawns over the new world that we call "heaven,"
we will celebrate your love with all your saints and angels for ever and for ever more.

BISPERAS SA VERITAS
JULY 11, 2026 -- 15TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (A)
P R A Y E R

Hail, DIVINE SOWER, the Word of the Father,
who came to earth to fill our days and hearts
with endless harvests of faith, hope, and love.
You entrust to us the SEED of your WORD
that it may bear in us and around us
fruits of knowledge, courage, and strength.
Thank you for teaching us that the fruitfulness of your Word comes from its own divine power, but it is also conditioned by the way we receive it and respond to it.

Lord, make our hearts FERTILE SOIL,
free from hard rocks, thorns and thistles,
that we may welcome the seed of your Word with eagerness and make it bear fruit a hundredfold, and thereby transform our existence on earth into the wonder of a plentiful harvest.

Make us SOWERS of your Word, Lord,
wherever you will send us, knowing that the seed we scatter contains all the richness and glory of the Kingdom, and has the power to change lives for the better and to fill them with meaning, direction and strength.

Make our lives precious SEEDS that bloom
wherever they will be scattered by you, the Divine Sower, wishing only to be born anew in countless fruits of holiness that fill your heaven with unmatchable happiness.

Give us the FAITH of the sower, Lord --
the faith that sustains him as he entrusts to the earth the treasure of his grains that will multiply to infinity to feed the crowds of humankind, hungry for love and life.

Give us the HOPE of the sower, Lord --
the hope that leads him to look forward to the refreshing rains that will quicken to new life the potentials of the seed that rots away in the dark bowels of the long furrows.

Give us the JOY of the former, Lord,
as he relishes the view of the golden waves of the ears of wheat, dancing in the sun at harvest time, inviting the laborers to wield their sickles, gather the sheaves, and carry them to the threshing floors, where dunes of golden, ripe grains
will fill the hearts of sowers and harvesters with sparkling joy.
Amen!
