​We just peeked inside the advance copy of Arundhati Roy and David Barsamian’s The Checkbook and the Cruise Missile, and it is a absolute goldmine for book collectors and history nerds!

​The "Uncorrected" Proof: The publisher's letter to reviewers explicitly states that the authors hadn't even finished making final text corrections when this was bound! It even notes that the foreword, maps, and index were completely "forthcoming."

The "###" Placeholder: Check out the copyright page. Because the book wasn't finalized for retail release, the credits literally say "Cover photo by ###". It’s a brilliant, raw look into the bookmaking process before the final retail copies hit the market in March 2004.

Union Printed: True to its radical roots, this edition by the legendary South End Press collective notes it was proudly printed "in Canada by union labor."
