The "65% Rule" Breakdown

To be considered a "Prospective Candidate" for a School Principal I position, you must reach a score of 65 or higher in the overall rating AND in a specific number of domains.

In the NASH (National Assessment for School Heads) system, reaching that 65% mark isn't just about "passing" or "failing"; it's about proving you are a well-rounded leader across all areas of school management.

1. The High Achievers (Meeting Standards in 4 to 5 Domains)
If you score at least 65% in four or all five domains, you are essentially "green-lighted." DepEd views you as having a solid grasp of almost every aspect of school leadership—from managing people to handling finances. You are considered a Priority Candidate.

2. The "Almost There" Group (Meeting Standards in 3 Domains)
If you hit the 65% mark in exactly three domains, you are considered "Eligible with Conditions." You’ve shown enough leadership potential to be appointed as a principal, but there’s a catch: you have a "knowledge gap" in those two domains where you scored lower.

The Condition: You can be promoted, but you must complete a specific training program (designed by NEAP) within your first three months on the job to "bridge" those gaps.

3. The Developmental Group (Meeting Standards in 2 or Fewer Domains)
Even if your total average is above 65%, if you only hit the 65% mark in two domains or fewer, DepEd considers you to have significant "Developmental Areas."

The Result: You aren't eligible for promotion just yet. You aren't "failing," but you are required to undergo coaching and professional development interventions first. Think of this as a "not yet" rather than a "no."

4. The Below-Standard Group (Overall Score below 65%)
If your overall average falls below 65%, the domain scores don't come into play yet. This status indicates that you need a more comprehensive review of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH).

The Result: You will need to wait for the next assessment cycle (like Batch 2) and are encouraged to take advantage of all available DepEd learning sessions in the meantime to prepare for a retake.

📢 FY 2025 NATIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR SCHOOL HEADS (NASH) – BATCH 2 ACTUAL ASSESSMENT

The Department of Education, through the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD), is conducting today the FY 2025 National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) – Batch 2 Actual Assessment across 65 assessment sites nationwide.

The NASH serves as the Department’s mechanism for assessing the readiness of aspiring school heads by evaluating competencies aligned with the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH), identifying competency gaps, and informing targeted professional development interventions to strengthen school leadership.

A total of 23,994 takers are expected to participate in the simultaneous nationwide assessment from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, with support from 132 Central Office (CO) Monitors deployed across the 17 regions to help ensure the orderly, secure, and smooth conduct of the activity.

Following the successful conduct of the Mock Assessment last 10 May 2026, the National Technical Working Group (NTWG), composed of representatives from HRDD, ICTS, and BLD, together with the Regional Technical Working Groups (RTWGs), continued to oversee final readiness preparations in close coordination with Regional Offices, Schools Division Offices, and school-based personnel nationwide.

Key readiness measures undertaken include:
✅Completion of enrollment of all takers in the Learning Management System (LMS);
✅Coordination with Microsoft engineers to address system performance concerns, particularly in Regions V and IX;
✅ Issuance of final reminders and technical instructions through the DepEd-BHROD page; and
✅ Implementation of system optimization measures, including cache clearing and expansion of server instances to improve platform performance and stability.

The NTWG is likewise deployed onsite at Jaro National High School in Iloilo City to oversee coordination and implementation activities during the assessment proper.

BHROD extends its appreciation to the NTWG, RTWGs, CO Monitors, Regional Teams, and all onsite personnel for their continued commitment and support in ensuring the successful conduct of the FY 2025 NASH – Batch 2 Actual Assessment.
