The story of seven dogs on the Changsong (Changchun)
Expressway is deeply moving the Chinese online community, thanks to their extraordinary loyalty and rare spirit of teamwork.
**The Incident: An Escape from Thieves**
On March 16, passersby spotted a group of seven dogsβ comprising various breeds (German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Corgi, etc.) βwalking together along the expressway, appearing visibly terrified.
Upon investigation, it was confirmed that these were family pets belonging to households within the same village. They had previously been stolen by dog thieves.
During transport, the dogs worked together to gnaw through their metal cage and leaped onto the expressway to make their escape.
Despite the panic amidst the heavy traffic, the seven dogs never separated; instead, they formed a protective
"squad" to look out for one another:
- ο»Ώο»ΏThe German Shepherd had sustained a leg injury, causing it to move slowly. The other dogs instinctively encircled it, allowing their injured companion to walk in the center of the formation for protection. When stopping to rest, they huddled tightly together in a circle to keep warm and stand guard.
- ο»Ώο»ΏThe Golden Retriever took on the role of "bodyguard," constantly walking along the outer edge of the group to remain vigilant while continuously wagging its tail as a way to reassure its companions.
This pack of four-legged friends walked continuously for nearly two days and nights, traversing highways and open fields in their quest to find their way home.
As soon as they discovered their pets were missing, the owners coordinated with the "Bitter Coffee" Stray Dog Rescue Station and a team of volunteers to launch a large-scale search operation. They utilized drones to scan the entire route. By March 18, all seven dogs had been located and safely returned home. Although they returned covered in mud and dehydrated, their spirits gradually stabilized upon being reunited with their owners.
