A better life doesn’t have to come with a heavier debt.
I get it.
You want your kids to have what you didn’t.
You want your parents to feel comfortable.
You want to be the one who made it.
So you stretch.
You borrow.
You say, “Basta masaya sila. Bahala na bukas.”
But here’s the hard truth:
If you’re going into debt just to look like you’re doing better—
you’re not building a future.
You’re burying one.
Because the real “better life”?
It’s not the latest iphone.
Not the signature shoes.
Not the branded bag or watch.
Not the weekend getaway just to keep up with social media.
A better life is:
Being able to sleep without worrying about bills.
Knowing your kids won’t inherit your debt.
Being proud of the slow progress because it’s real.
You don’t need to prove anything to anyone.
Not your classmates.
Not your neighbors.
Not even your relatives.
Live within your means.
Build quietly.
And remember—debt is not the shortcut to happiness.
It’s often the detour from peace.
Choose progress, not pressure.
