Title: The Line of Beauty
Author: Alan Hollinghurst
Genre: Historical Novel/Gay Literature/Historical Novel/Psychological Fiction
Summary:
The Line of Beauty begins in the summer of 1983, as narrator Nick Guest lodges in the home of the Feddens in Notting Hill near London shortly after graduating from Oxford. Rachel and Gerald Fedden are the parents of Toby, one of Nick’s classmates at Oxford, and a daughter, Catherine. Nick is anticipating the beginning of classes in a PhD program in literature at University College London, where he will research the style of author Henry James. Though Toby and Nick were not close in college, Nick harbored a crush on him.
Around the time of Nick’s move to Notting Hill, Gerald is elected MP for Barwick, a town in Northamptonshire, where Nick spent his childhood. Nick observes that Gerald clearly gets off on acquiring political power, possessing a photo of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a silver frame next to one of Rachel. He reveals that his ultimate dream is to host her for dinner. The Tories, Britain’s predominant right-wing political party, lead Thatcher’s Parliament. Because of Peter’s party’s opposition to gay rights, Nick’s relationship with Peter becomes the main tension.

Title: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth
Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Young Adult Literature/Greek Mythology/Fantasy/Fantasy Fiction/Adventure Fiction
Summary:
Like the first three books, you'll find plenty of monster-fighting action. This time, the monsters coming out of Tartarus with designs to kill all half-bloods like Percy are even bigger and scarier and they wage war with the campers at the end. Two half-blood campers die in battle, one nearly dies of madness, one has his body possessed by a Titan. Most other half-blood injuries -- including shooting out of a volcano -- can be cured with the nectar of the gods. There's also some fighting in a skull-adorned sport arena with swords, nets, shields, and tridents; a monster and a centaur die and turn to dust.
The quest takes place in the labyrinth, originally designed by the inventor Daedalus, and flashbacks reveal the tragedies of his life: the death of his son and even murder. Expect more great things from our favorite ADHD, dyslexic hero, Percy Jackson. He will do anything to save his friends. Also expect the goddess Aphrodite to continue messing with his love life. There's much more heartache, jealousy, and confusion than actual kissing -- sorry, Percy.

Title: Genghis Khan: Life, Death and Resurrection
Author: John Man
Genre: History/Biography/Nonfiction
Synopsis:
Genghis Khan is one of history's immortals, alive in memory as a scourge, hero, military genius and demi-god. To Muslims, Russians and westerners, he is a murderer of millions, a brutal oppressor. Yet in his homeland of Mongolia he is the revered father of the nation, and the Chinese honor him as the founder of a dynasty. In his so-called Mausoleum in Inner Mongolia, worshippers seek the blessing of his spirit. In a supreme paradox, the world's most ruthless conqueror has become a force for peace and reconciliation.

As a teenager, Genghis was a fugitive, hiding from enemies on a remote mountainside. Yet he went on to found the world's greatest land empire and change the course of world history. Brilliant and original as well as ruthless, he ruled an empire twice the size of Rome's until his death in 1227 placed all at risk. To secure his conquests and then extend them, his heirs kept his death a secret, and secrecy has surrounded him ever since. His undiscovered grave, with its imagined treasures, remains the subject of intrigue and speculation.
