A centurion came to Jesus, pleading for Him to heal his soldier.

This was unconventional because:
- Jesus was a Jew, the centurion was a Roman and Jews and gentiles shouldn't talk to each other
- The centurion had the right to kill his soldier but here He was, pleading for his life
- Jesus said He will come to his house right away
..but the centurion says that he is not worthy to have Jesus under his roof, "But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I TOO am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, "Go" and he goes; and to another, "Come," and he comes; and to my servant, "Do this," and he does it."

The centurion explains that he has authority over his men; just as Jesus has authority over sickness and everything else.

Here is a gentile, who understood profoundly Jesus' spiritual authority. His faith was so big that even Jesus MARVELLED at his faith.

A single word from Jesus changes everything.

Spurgeon used the illustration of a man who came to move your furniture, but he carried a huge and heavy backpack of his own. He complains that he finds it difficult to do the job of moving your furniture; would you not suggest that he would find it easier if he laid his own burden aside so that he could carry yours? In the same way, we cannot do God’s work when we are weighed down by our own burdens and worries.

Cast - throw them with intention and force, not just lay them down - upon Him, and then take up the Lord’s burden – which is light burden, and a yoke that fits us perfectly.

What are you anxious about today? God is more than able to carry you through!

Do you want to run without getting tired? We all wish we could - and that is what God promises those who wait on Him.

The idea behind waiting on the LORD is not a passive sitting around until the LORD does something.

He brings it to us as we seek Him, and rely on Him, instead of our own strength. If we are weak, it is because we do not wait on the LORD.
