PAG-USBAW | In Butuan City, a small group of farmers chose to rise together.
Since 2015, the members of the Sumilihon-Taguibo Farmers Cooperative (SUTAFACO) have been working together hand-in-hand but it was during the pandemic when their journey truly took flight. Through the KADIWA Program, they brought fresh vegetables and fruits directly to communities with no middlemen involved, no markups even.
They helped neighbors put food on the table. They built strong partnerships with big stores and even delivered weekly produce to young girls in a shelter. And with every KADIWA rollout, they didn’t just sell crops, they built connections, gave hope, and lifted an entire community, even after the pandemic.
“Pag-usbaw” isn’t an ordinary farmer success story but it’s a story of courage, compassion, and choosing to rise—for others, and with others.
Based on the journey of the Sumilihon-Taguibo Farmers Cooperative (SUTAFACO), Caraga Region's Outstanding Kadiwa Agri-Fishery Enterprise for Gawad Saka 2025.
