Motorcycle tires are your only point of contact with the road, directly dictating your safety, handling, and braking performance. Regular inspections and timely replacements are crucial; neglecting them exponentially increases the risk of accidents, tire blowouts, and poor fuel efficiency.

Essential Tire Inspection Checklist

To keep your bike safe, establish a routine of checking your tires when they are cold (before riding or after the bike has sat for at least 3 hours).

Tire Pressure: Use a reliable tire gauge to check your pressure at least once a week. Check your owner's manual or the sticker on your bike's swingarm to find the factory-recommended PSI (typically ranging from 28 to 42 PSI depending on your bike type).

Tread Depth: Inspect the tread wear indicators (Tread Wear Indicators/TWIs) molded into the grooves of your tire. When the tread wears down flush with these raised bars, the tire has reached its legal limit (usually 1 mm to 0.8 mm) and must be replaced.

Visual Damage: Check the entire circumference of your tires for foreign objects (nails or stones), deep cuts, or punctures. Watch out for cracks in the sidewall or bulges and blisters, which indicate that the tire's internal structure has failed.
