Was gone for a week (cough cough sickness) and immediately after recovery, I spent the week testing something different - the Gateron | Keyboard Switch Jade Attraction HE magnetic switches!

Been using these for a week straight, both for playing Valorant and editing this video. At a ultra-light 30gf, they are light. I had to adjust the actuation settings on my spacebar so I wouldn't accidentally jump mid-game

Some innovations:
3-Phase Magnetic Ring: designed to counteract standard spring resistance, force stays flat
Acoustic Dual Back-Cover: added an acoustic chamber to copy mechanical acoustics - gives a nice bottom-out pop, though you still get that signature snappy metal upstroke clack inherent to magnetic switches.
Dual-Drive Structure: Stem wobble is noticeably reduced, making typing super smooth.

Before jumping straight into gaming, I did a quick Monkeytype run. The 30gf initial force is like a throwback to "speed" switches, just a bit more controlled, if that makes sense.

Check out the unboxing and sound test! Are you team ultra-light switches, or do you prefer a heavier spring? Let me know in the comments! 👇

It’s been raining hard in Manila, perfect time to stay inside and finally assemble a build I’ve been planning for months 😅

The KBDfans Margo in sleek Matte Black with that gorgeous shell-textured logo on the back, paired with a custom crimson red aluminum plate from Keebox featuring of course my own logo on both sides of the spacebar 😏

To match the black-and-red theme, I went with HMX Cola switches I got (on discount 🤣) from Unikeys and wrapped it all up in Jaekeyed 's Aka Haiiro dye-sub Cherry profile keycaps.

I'm really enjoying adding custom personal touches to my boards, maybe next time I’ll engrave my logo directly onto a keyboard case?

What customization or personalization project should I try next? Let me know in the comments 😁

New budget king alert? 🤔

Heres a quick ASMR unboxing and soundtest of the first of the new line of switches from Akko - the Creamy Yellow U1. Thoughts on the switch? Well firstly:

The sound and feel? Moving away from the old transparent PC tops, these feature a new blend of POM for the top housing and long-pole stem. Combined with a "foamed" build creates this poppy and thocky sound signature that also feels buttery smooth after just one day of heavy use 😁

The fixed LED diffuser - ifyou’ve ever broken a switch or had an LED diffuser fly out and with the switch still stuck in your board while pulling it, you know the pain. They redesigned the diffuser and it’s stable now, a W for me (as someone who frequently switches, switches, HA!)

Design and packaging also changed, the opaque design gives off this cheese vibes and looks so much cleaner than old clear PC tops. Plus, they've moved away from the boxes and the standard 45-pack, to now a 100-pc that comes with a transparent jar (which I'll reuse to display unused switches 😁)

(Disclaimer: set up is a MonsGeek M1 v5 with POM plate + PBT dye-sub keycaps and only used them for a day, so the sound/feel might break in and change slightly long-term)

So, might this be the next budget switch to take over the community? Let me know what you think 👇

I know TKLs have been on the rise lately, but for my client who doesn't need that extra row? This Vela70 R2, an FRL layout keyboard, fits his needs perfectly 🎯

Being an FRL is already unique, but this board packs 5 features that make it fun and keeping up with the trends. 1️⃣ That screen, adds personality and a touch of customization 2️⃣ The badge, yes, it's magnetic and doubles as a cover for the USB dongle compartment 3️⃣ Ball-catch disassembly, no screws needed 4️⃣ No JST connectors here, it uses magnetic pins to connect the LED module and PCB 5️⃣ And last but not least, that patterned weight on the back. Just look at it. Nothing else to say. 😁

So what do you think of the FRL layout? Love it or leave it? Let me know below 👇

Work stress levels are through the roof, so I decided the only cure was a heavy-duty WFH keyboard upgrade. The Luminkey75 is already a heavy board itself, but I wanted more heft - so I swapped in a custom copper plate cause....just because. 😅

I also changed switches to BSUN Snow Diane linears that I got from Unikeys and also a new look on the keycaps with the PBTFans Pelican R2 from KBDFans!

So yeah, here's a satisfying (at least for me hehe) ASMR disassembly of the plate swap and a final sound test of the completed build!

Feels like ages since I've done a full Akko keyboard build! Here is a client commissioned build featuring the Akko ACR75. The client wanted to revive his years-old board with a fresh sound and aesthetic.

We went with Akko Cream Yellow V5 switches for that smooth, poppy feel paired with one of Akko's OG keycaps, an ASA profile PC Transparent in black and yellow keycap set - completing this black and gold themed build. For the stabs, we did a retune using Krytox 205g0 and dielectric grease, and applied EVA switch foam.

Sometimes, you don't need a brand new keyboard, just some cleaning and minor upgrades! (But let’s be honest, buying new ones is half the fun 😉).

Let me know what you think of the sound in the comments!
