What a weekend turnaround at BRC!

What started as a nightmare ended with two victories. During practice, our ZL1 suffered a failed alternator, leaving the car completely dead after just a few laps. After sourcing a replacement battery, we went back out only to have a transmission cooler line explode and fill the car with oil and smoke.

With no time to spare, the team got to work early Saturday morning. Missing the warm-up session, Mark Savino went straight into Time Attack and delivered, bringing home our first-ever BRC Time Attack Championship.

Sunday was even crazier. Running solely on battery power with a dead alternator, we trusted the team, the car, and a fully charged battery to survive a 7-lap grid race with 25 cars on track. The ZL1 never let us down, crossing the finish line in P1 after an incredible battle through traffic and backmarkers. Great driving by Mark Savino aggressive when needed, defensive when it mattered, and keeping the car together through it all.

A special shoutout to Angelo Magtoto . Racing is always better when you’re battling a competitor who races hard, fair, and with respect. We love dicing with Angelo Magtoto on track because every battle is clean and competitive. What makes this weekend even more memorable is that both teams were fighting their own challenges. While we were dealing with a failed alternator and a blown transmission line, Angelo Magtoto was also battling electrical gremlins. Despite the setbacks, both teams pushed through and put on a great show.

From electrical failures and blown transmission lines to a Time Attack Championship and a Grid Race Win, this is definitely one for the books. Huge congratulations to Mark Savino , and Our entire team Kandi Racing Stanghero AMSOIL Philippines , and respect to Angelo Magtoto and his crew.

Practice day gave us a glimpse of what’s possible! clocking a 1:40.39 at 1PM in the heat.
Come race day, Full Throttle Weekend we managed a 1:40.8 and a 1:43 in the second session, only to find out afterward that we were running on tires with already 13–14 heat cycles. They were completely past their prime, but they still delivered.
The good news? The car is now consistently running in the 1:40s. Little by little, we’re dialing in the perfect setup for BRC, learning more every session, and unlocking more potential from the car.
A 1:39 is no longer a target in the distance.
