Pro Tips:
1. Go on a weekday morning to avoid the major crowds. If you can only go weekends, start at 10AM.
2. Have a list of your must-purchase books and publisher booths that you want to visit. There are simply too many options. A day won't be enough to cover it all.
3. Review the schedule of events and set alarms for the ones you want to attend. Everything happens simultaneously, it's easy to lose track of time.
4. Have a budget in mind. It'll be very easy to spend a fortune if you're not conscious.
5. Bring a bag with wheels. When books add up, they get very heavy.
6. This will be a physical workout. Wear comfy shoes and stay hydrated.

SHOULD YOU BRING YOUR KIDS?
Yes you can! When my daughter was younger, I would always bring her and we would stay the whole day. We would bring her school bag with wheels which doubled as a stool for her when she got tired. She loved browsing through all the picture books on display and meeting her favorite authors. If she got bored, she would just sit and read her new books.

A CALL TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN

Recent school shootings remind us of something we should never take for granted: children deserve to feel safe in the places where they learn, play, and grow.

In moments of tragedy, let us also be mindful of how we respond.
Please don’t share graphic photos or videos. Don’t spread unverified stories. Don’t turn someone’s worst moment into content.
Behind every image is a community trying to make sense of what happened. But protecting children goes beyond what we share online.

It means listening when they say they are afraid. Noticing when something changes. Creating spaces where they can speak without judgment. Taking their concerns seriously. And building communities where children know there are adults who will protect them.
We may not be able to prevent every tragedy. But we can choose what kind of community we become in response to one.

Let’s choose empathy over curiosity.

Heartbroken 💔

We had just placed an order last week to restock "Tight Times" and "Papa's House, Mama's House". Could it have been a sign? These two stories will always have a special place in our hearts as they are part of how we fell madly and deeply in love with Filipino children's books. We were extra thrilled when Jeanette Concepcion Patindol reached out to us when we were just starting and we found out we were kababayans from Negros Occidental!

If you do not have these in your collection yet, pls order them ASAP. They will warm your hearts and fill you with strength. They are beautiful, she was beautiful 💕

Our deepest condolences to her loved ones. Jean's legacy lives on 🌟

Jeanette Concepcion Patindol, author of the award-winning books 'Papa's House, Mama's House' and 'Tight Times,' died on August 13, 2026. She was 58.

The occasion commemorates the publication of the English translation of José Rizal's Ang Matsing at ang Pagong in London in July 1899, a landmark in the history of Philippine children's literature.
