📢 A Quick Clarification About Our Pages

FlipEx is an extension and shortened identity of Flipping Exchange.

While both operate under the same brand, they serve different purposes:

🔹 FlipEx — our main community and engagement platform. This page is focused on sharing updates, announcements, buying opportunities, educational content, featured finds, business activities, and other relevant posts related to the flipping and collectibles community.

🔹 Flipping Exchange — our marketplace platform, primarily dedicated to posting available items for sale, trade, auction, and other transaction-related listings.

In simple terms:

FlipEx = Community, Content & Updates
Flipping Exchange = Marketplace & Available Items

Both pages are part of the same vision: creating a structured and convenient platform for buying, selling, trading, and discovering valuable items.

FlipEx is Flipping Exchange.

Item of the Day

The Sholes & Glidden Typewriter (Re*****on No. 1)

Placed on the market by Re*****on on July 1, 1874, this is remembered as the first commercially successful typewriter — though it had a slow start. Designed by Christopher Latham Sholes with Carlos Glidden, Samuel W. Soule, and James Densmore, and manufactured by E. Re*****on & Sons.

It introduced the four-row QWERTY keyboard (still the standard today), and its floral decorations were borrowed from Re*****on's sewing machine designs.

Early sales were weak — only about 400 units sold in its first months due to high cost and it could only type uppercase letters. Real success came with the improved Re*****on No. 2 in 1878, which added lowercase via a shift key.

Item of the Day

The Payneta (Peineta)

A symbol of elegance and Filipino heritage, the payneta (Spanish: peineta) is a traditional ornamental hair comb worn by Filipina women, most famously with the Maria Clara or traje de mestiza.

Dating back to the Spanish colonial period, these exquisite pieces were handcrafted from tortoiseshell or silver and adorned with high-karat gold using traditional techniques such as engraving, chasing, and repoussé. Some of the finest examples were created by master jewelers in Manila, Biñan, Vigan, Laoag, and Damortis, with exceptional pieces featuring natural pearls, red coral, precious stones, and diamonds.

Today, antique paynetas are prized not only for their beauty but also as remarkable works of Filipino craftsmanship and history.
