Mula sa kanila ay narinig natin ang mga una nating paboritong kuwentong pambata. Sa kanilang paggabay, natututo tayong bumigkas at magbasa, hanggang sa unti-unting nahihilig tayo sa mga kuwento at aklat.

Maraming salamat sa ating mga gurong patuloy na nag-aalab ang pagmamahal sa pagbabasa, at nagbubukas ng mga bagong mundong puno ng kaalaman at imahinasyon para sa bawat batang mag-aaral. Mabuhay po kayo!

🌊⚓ 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆!
Today, Chikiting Books joins the global maritime community in recognizing the people, stories, and connections that keep our seas and communities moving.

This year’s World Maritime Day theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence,” highlights the importance of putting maritime commitments into action and building a safer, more resilient, and sustainable maritime future.

For young readers, stories can be a wonderful way to discover the world of the sea and the people whose lives are connected to it. Stories such as 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘰 by Chikiting Books, brings young readers closer to the maritime world through storytelling and imagination.

Written by Beverly Wico Siy and illustrated by Ronier Verzo, the story follows a character named Marne Marino aboard the ship MV Lumba-Lumba. Readers accompany Marne as he searches the ship, explores its various compartments, and meets his shipmates. Published in 2013, the book pays tribute to Filipino seafarers and the families who support them.

May we continue to inspire the next generation to learn about our seas, appreciate their importance, and value the people who make life by and across the water possible.

Watch the video highlights of 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 at the 2026.

This event was held in partnership with the National Library of the Philippines at the Vibal booth last September 11, 2026. It featured a back-to-back live storytelling and arts and crafts activities led by Kuya Tom and Ate Jeefa from the NLP Kuwentistas. The two children’s stories, 𝘉𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺 and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘦’𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘱 𝘛𝘰 𝘓𝘶𝘴𝘩 were read to the audience during the story telling portion.

𝗢𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿, Kuya Tom and Ate Jeefa from the National Library of the Philippines Kuwentistas led a lively 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 storytelling, raffle, and arts and crafts activity featuring the children’s stories 𝘉𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺 and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘦’𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘱 𝘛𝘰 𝘓𝘶𝘴𝘩. During afternoon activity, our two storytellers gave away story books from Chikiting Books as prizes during the program’s question and answer session.
