Events relating to zine are typically about making or collecting – put in other words, production or accumulation. The next step is rarely discussed: how to maintain or take care of zines. When archiving, conserving, or preserving printed materials, books are typically the heart of the matter. Why not include zines in the conversation?

This roundtable discussion is organized to provide a space for zinesters – new and old – to share their practices in maintaining the collection they’ve built over the years.

Filipino artists have played important roles in exposing the atrocities of the brutal Marcos dictatorship and the Duterte regime, and raising the political consciousness of the people to resist.

In line with the 50th commemoration of Martial Law, Artists Reject Marcos-Duterte and Gantala Press will organize Gandang-ganda sa sariling gawa, a women-led art fair, with the theme Laban sa Paglimot on 11 September 2022, Saturday (9 AM – 5 PM) at Bantayog ng mga Bayani.

Takatak (Bikol languages) edited by Luis Cabalquinto and Kristian Sendon Cordero, an anthology of flash fictions in Bikol.

Bahay Kubo, (English and Filpino) with essays by Stephen Acabado and Kristian Cordero, and illustrations by Aldrin Camacho, this picture book presents a new way of seeing and singing to thin Filipino quintessential song.

Gabos Na Hayop, Pantay-Pantay (A Bikol adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm) by Fr. Wilmer Tria, with illustrations by John Sherwin Acampado. Set in an imaginary Philippine location, this fable presents characters like Ferdinand, Benigno, Ponce, Juana and Juan, Tiago, and Manolo in scenarios that would remind us of our dark political system.

Tabaco, the first of our Pangangalagkalag series by Niles Jordan Breis, gathers his three essays in Filipino which is a soulful gaze at a seaport town which is also identified with the poet Angela Manalang Gloria. Here, Breis, also charts his own Catholic childhood.
