WHY MONITORING BLOOD PRESSURE DURING PREGNANCY IS IMPORTANT.
According to The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Monitoring blood pressure at home is useful because:
During pregnancy, changes in blood pressure can be an early sign of preeclampsia. The sooner this potentially life-threatening condition is caught, the easier it is to treat.
Taking blood pressure at home can give you a more accurate reading. Some people feel stressed when getting their blood pressure taken at a doctor's office (white coat hypertension), resulting in a reading that's higher than it would be if measured under other conditions.
Readings over time give you and your provider a clearer picture of your condition. Blood pressure goes up and down during the day. For example, it's lower when you're asleep than when you're active.
