🏜️ TUT Build Log — German Desert Bunker (1/72)

My first venture into 1/72 scale diorama storytelling many years back, built around a German Desert Bunker scene featuring the ESCI Opel Flak 38 and Blitz Truck.

This tiny build pushed me to experiment with micro‑weathering, sand‑tone modulation, and tight composition—proving that small scale doesn’t mean small impact.

The bunker’s rough desert concrete, the Opel’s sun‑beaten panels, and the Blitz Truck’s dusty operational look all came together to form a compact but cinematic snapshot of North African theater action.

A milestone build for me—simple, gritty, and unforgettable.

Stumbled upon Modellbaustube along Döblinger Hauptstraße — a cozy hobby shop with a genuinely friendly owner. It was really a surprise gem! Moments like this remind me why wandering through Vienna’s quieter districts is always worth it—unexpected finds, warm conversations, and a shared love for scale modeling.

I chanced upon this shop years ago on vacation and I’m hoping it’s still operational today—would love to drop by again and explore more of their kits and supplies.

If you ever find yourself in the 19th District, this spot is a must‑visit for hobbyists and curious travelers alike.
