If I recall right, it was 2023 when my co-writer, Shania insisted that we revive a particular pitch which we shelved a few years back. It was originally written with Cherie Gil in mind as the lead, about an estranged mother who comes home to her family after a long absence. So, we dusted the old files, updated , and gave it a new title - Tribunada (a sudden storm). With no guarantee of compensation, or that it would even amount to anything, we collaborated with two other writers, Cody and Shanice , creatively supported by wonderful creative minds, Joujou Into , Apa Agbayani , Jed Bernardo, and Rhea Schmidt. In due time, we came up with a pitch that we were proud of. Next step was to get it out there, I pitched to several independent producers but no one picked up 😞 As a last resort, “sumuntok ako sa buwan” and scrounged around for a key to the creative quarters of Netflix. Who knew they’d see what we see in it? 🤗 We developed the script in cooperation with Mondy Buensalido’s Big Screen Film Productions and Netflix , Tribunada eventually became Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon, with an unimaginably powerful cast, and produced by Netflix originals with an amazing production company UXS . airs globally starting Aug 13 , 2026.
