With various self-help books and concepts surrounding us daily, I'd dare say 'Toxic Positivity' by Whitney Goodman is the ultimate antithesis.
The book really hit home for me as Goodman delves deep into how our relentless pursuit of positivity can sometimes do more harm than good. She talks about the pressure we feel to put on a happy face even when we're struggling, leading us to bury our true feelings instead of dealing with them in a healthy way.
I appreciated Goodman's approach, mixing personal stories with solid research, making the book both relatable and informative. She doesn't just point out the problem; she also offers practical tips on how to embrace our emotions authentically and find a more balanced mindset.
Overall, 'Toxic Positivity' made me rethink how I approach my own feelings and those of others. It's a reminder that it's okay not to be okay sometimes, and that's something we should all keep in mind.
(Tbh, I love this book so much that I'm rethinking if we should release this on our next collection 😅 )
And that's it for another Reading Challenge from us. How about you? Is there a book that made you question your long-standing beliefs?
