From Mono Community:
LET’S START A CONSUMPTION MOVEMENT
Let’s support restaurants, barber shops, clothing stores and all business establishments within our reach who are slowly re-opening their commercial lives.
Be patient with the procedures required to keep everyone safe.
Be overly generous with your tips.
Offer kind words like “I miss being here” even if it’s your first time (and see their eyes light up through their masks).
Buy an extra meal or two and offer it to the unemployed, stranded, or anyone hungry begging for their next meal. Smile.
Appreciate the servers, salesmen, security guards, waiters, deliverymen, “wash/watch-your-car boys,” and everyone else you meet on the street for what they do, why they do it, and who they are for what they are doing. You have no idea what struggles they are going through.
For those who can afford it, spend. The way out of this recession is consumption. That extra expense for you might be a lifeline for others.
Hire people for even the most mundane work, even if you can do it yourself.
Buy that “walis” being sold by peddlers selling their wares near your village gates, even if you don’t need it.
Buy that extra piece of local furniture, even if your place is full.
Buy those flowers being sold by “kuya” and “ate” in the streets, and give it to your loved one - that usually leads to wonderful surprises.
Buy that piece of local art, you could be buying a masterpiece.
Buy that “trapo” from the kids in the streets, even if you have canisters of microfiber cloths at home.
Don’t bargain too hard, they have 3 months of catching up.
Practice physical, not social, distancing.
Reach out to someone. We are one community. The Darwinian evolutionary principle of “survival of the fittest” is applicable only to animals.
Life is meant to be lived in cooperation with another.
All 118 naturally occurring elements in the periodic table - even the most basic required for air and water - on their own have limited or toxic use to man. But when combined with another they could support life.
Iron rusts and cannot on its own be made into buildings. But when amalgamated with carbon, you create an alloy (steel) and erect skyscrapers.
The same goes with man.
Share this and let’s all contribute and pull this country out of recession.
