Sometimes the mistake is what makes the coin interesting.

This 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar has a curved clip mint error, created before the coin was ever struck.

Coins begin as blanks cut from long strips of metal. If a new blank is punched from an area that overlaps a hole left by a previous punch, part of the blank is already missing. The result is the distinctive curved edge seen on this coin.

This example is especially interesting because 1964 was the first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar. It was introduced only months after President John F. Kennedy's assassination and was struck in 90% silver, unlike the reduced-silver and later copper-nickel versions that followed.

CAC has graded this example MS64 and identified the curved clip error, with a weight of 12.4 grams.

A familiar American coin, but one that left the Mint looking quite different from the rest.

Before there was a U.S. Mint, coins like this were already circulating in America.

This 1787 Connecticut Copper dates to the years immediately following the American Revolution. At the time, the United States did not yet have a federal mint producing a standardized national coinage. Several states, including Connecticut, authorized copper coins to help meet the need for everyday money.

This example features the Draped Bust Left design and has been certified by NGC as Fine Details with corrosion.

More than 230 years have left their mark on the coin, but that is also part of what makes pieces like this interesting to collect. It comes from a period when the country's monetary system was still taking shape, years before the first coins of the United States Mint entered circulation.

A silver dollar created for a new era.

The Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 following World War I, with a design intended to reflect the country's hopes for peace. Sculptor Anthony de Francisci placed Liberty on the obverse and a bald eagle at rest on the reverse.

Unlike the Morgan Dollar that came before it, the Peace Dollar carries a distinctly different message. The eagle is shown perched peacefully rather than in a more heraldic pose, with the word “PEACE” placed beneath it.

This example was struck in 1923, during the early years of the series, and has been graded MS63 by PCGS. Like other Peace Dollars of the original series, it was struck in 90% silver.

More than a century later, the design still captures the idea behind its name: a coin created to commemorate peace after a period of global conflict.

Small coin, remarkable detail.

This 1944-D Mercury Dime was struck at the Denver Mint during the final years of the Mercury Dime series, which ran from 1916 to 1945.

Despite its familiar nickname, the figure on the obverse isn't actually Mercury. Designer Adolph A. Weinman depicted Liberty wearing a winged cap, meant to symbolize freedom of thought. The resemblance to the Roman god Mercury eventually gave the coin the name collectors still use today.

This example has been graded MS66 FSB by ANACS. The FSB designation stands for Full Split Bands and refers to the horizontal bands on the fasces on the reverse. When those bands are fully separated, it indicates a particularly strong strike in one of the design's most closely watched areas.

Struck in 90% silver and preserved in high Mint State, this 1944-D is a strong example of one of America's classic 20th-century coin designs.

More than two centuries old, with part of that time spent beneath the sea.

This 1783 Mexico 8 Reales was recovered from the wreck of the El Cazador, a Spanish vessel that sank in the Gulf of Mexico in 1784 while carrying a large shipment of silver coinage bound for Spanish Louisiana.

Struck at the Mexico City Mint, the 8 Reales was one of the most widely recognized silver coins of its era. It circulated extensively through international trade and became known to many as the Spanish dollar or “piece of eight.”

The surfaces of this example still show the effects of its time underwater. For a shipwreck coin, those marks are part of its history and a physical reminder of where it has been.

NGC certified this example as sea salvaged from the El Cazador shipwreck.

From a Spanish colonial mint to a ship lost at sea, then recovered centuries later, this 8 Reales has had a journey far beyond ordinary circulation.

An American classic with more than 145 years of history.

This 1880-S Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint during the early years of one of the most recognizable coin series in U.S. history.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the Morgan Dollar debuted in 1878 and features Liberty on the obverse and an American eagle on the reverse. The “S” mint mark identifies this example as a San Francisco issue — a mint known for producing some remarkably well-struck Morgan Dollars.

This example has been graded CAC MS61, placing it in Mint State: a coin preserved without the circulation wear normally associated with money from this era.
