Elon Musk’s Neuralink is developing a surgical robot capable of reaching almost any region of the human brain to implant brain chips with extreme precision.
The robot uses cameras, sensors, and needle-like tools to insert ultra-thin electrode threads thinner than human hair into delicate brain tissue.
Neuralink said the system adapts during surgery because the brain slightly shifts from heartbeat, breathing, and blood flow, while sensors help reduce tissue damage.
Unlike older implants focused mainly on movement, Neuralink’s new robot aims to reach brain regions tied to speech, memory, mood, vision, and sensory processing.
Neuralink believes the technology could eventually help treat paralysis, blindness, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological disorders.
