Perhaps it began with noticing-
The curl of a leaf, the mark of a wing,
The crooked branch, the weathered grain,
The little wonders that return with rain.
Somehow these quiet fragments of wild
began finding their way into my mind-
And then onto wood,
Where every line could wander,
Every shape could take a little life.
With fire as my brush
And wood beneath my hands,
I follow what nature leaves behind-
A pattern here, a creature there,
A little colour blooming
Where the grain once stood bare.
And perhaps that is what I love most,
Not simply making something new,
But taking a little piece of the wild
that caught my eye,
And letting it become something
made by hand,
made with wonder,
made in my own way.
Pyrography- the art of drawing with fire- an ancient practice. And I turn this art of wood burning into pieces inspired by the untamed poetry of nature.
