Someone on LinkedIn asked, "How to sound more professional when speaking to clients/customers?"
Here are three tips that can help:

🚫 Don't call your client "dear." Unless they have antlers on their head and refuse to move away from an approaching vehicle, stay away from this term.

🚫 When emailing, avoid using internet jargon like lol, lmao, rofl unless you are working with Trevor Noah or Hassan Minhaj. I mean, come on, I doubt your client is that funny.

🚫 Try not to use pop-culture references if you think they were born anytime before 1981. They will probably not understand what you mean by delulu selulu.

Heck, I am a millennial, and even I don't know what these terms mean.

Here is a bonus golden nugget for you.

🚫 Practice in the mirror. You would be surprised how helpful this can be.
However, make sure your siblings aren't around when you do this exercise.
They won't let you live it down.

Serious talk: It is important to build a connection with your client. That said, you need not be informal to make a connection. Be human, but don't get carried away.

Have you ever refused a really difficult project?

Did you think it was beyond your skill levels?

I have been there too.

I was asked to work on something that was not only hard but was completely out of my comfort zone.

However, since I was a newbie at the time, I didn't want to say no.

Looking back, I know I could have refused to do the project. My manager wouldn't have minded.

But

Getting that project early in my career made me confident.

💃🏽 Hey, If I could write about this, I could write about anything.

To be honest, while praise is always good for a morale boost as a beginner, it is actually the difficult projects that make you a better writer and more confident in your abilities.

So the next time you have to deal with a nail-biting, stress-inducing project, don't just say no.

🤔 Think it over.
💻 Research.
🤝 Ask for help.
🤜🏽 Kick-ass.
😁 Feel more confident.

Changing a few simple things about yourself can immensely improve your productivity.
If you want to get things done, you gotta do it yourself, right?
Take the decision and move with it. Don't think about doing things someday. Do them now. Do them today!
Say no to things that are restricting you from growing. Do you spend most of your time scrolling? Stop!!
But hold on. Hustling is so last year now. Remember to take breaks. You know your capacity to work. Take breaks and avoid burn outs.
