A synthetic leaf is an innovative device that replicates the natural process of photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water into oxygen and fuel. Inspired by real leaves, it uses specially designed catalysts and light-absorbing materials to capture sunlight and trigger chemical reactions. When sunlight hits the synthetic leaf, it splits water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is released into the air, while the hydrogen can be combined with captured CO₂ to produce energy-rich fuels such as methanol or hydrogen gas.

This breakthrough technology offers a sustainable solution to two global challenges: reducing greenhouse gases and producing clean energy. By removing CO₂ from the atmosphere and generating renewable fuel, synthetic leaves can help combat climate change while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
