WICI store is a joint initiative of a group of long time friends with passion for crafting and living history. Like a family, we are bounded by values - we want to preserve ancient crafts (weaving, leatherwork, nalebinding), master them and connect them to the present day. We value good craftsmanship, sustainable production methods and natural materials. All items in our shop are carefully hand ma

de by us. Who are we? Emilia is a researcher and a weaver. When you contact us regarding tablet weaving, it will be her to advise you. Anna is a master of single needle knitting and a photographer. The other Anna runs her own artistic studio where she creates historical, fantasy and theatrical costumes. She is a sculptor and an experienced festival coordinator, too! Maciej works in finances and loves historical martial arts. His accuracy in numbers translates into masterful leather works. We met when we were 15, in a small town in central Poland where a living history society was pretty much the only thing to do. We loved it and it changed our lives. In 2016 we established a non-governmental organisation (Association for the Promotion of Old Crafts and Culture, wici.org.pl) through which we share our passion and knowledge with others. Our goal and dream is to arouse curiosity about creative use of traditional crafts in contemporary education, art and design. We organise workshops and educational activities for families and people in difficult situation who normally wouldn't afford to pay for cultural events. We want to raise awareness about the value of ethically produced hand made items. When you buy from us, you also support our organisation as we use this income to cover the cost of our activities, tools and materials. Thank you for dropping by! 🆕This is my newest pattern in the Tablet Weaving PDF Pattern Series (Feb, 2026).

👐 Designed for intermediate weavers, it works with 16 tablets and two colours, using a structured two-hole setup. The design is composed of several distinct figures that you can weave independently — one by one, repeat as you wish, or combine into a longer sequence.

🎬 The PDF is accompanied by a video, so you can see the pattern being woven and follow the movement of the cards in real time.

How long does it take to weave a band like this? Can you count the picks (moves) in this video? Check your answer below. 👇

At 4 picks per minute, one full pattern repeat (52 picks) takes about 13 minutes.
This band has 14 repeats, so that’s just over 3 hours of weaving.

But that’s only the ideal rhythm.

In reality, there are tension adjustments, weft changes, and sometimes going back a few turns to fix a mistake or fix a broken thread.
Warping and threading take about 40 minutes, and finishing another 30–40 minutes.

This band is 190 cm long (woven part, plus tassels to come).

In total, it’s at least 5 hours of work.

There’s a lot of green on my loom lately. I guess it is the spring energy. 🙃

From today until Sunday, selected tablet-woven bands are 20% off.
All are made by hand from wool – some inspired by archaeological finds, some dyed with plants.
