It’s with a sad heart that we bring Buenos Beans to the final closure.

The main reason we are closing down Buenos Beans, is that as an international couple, we have families in far corners of the world, and our time with them in this life is one of our main priorities.

Along the Buenos Beans journey, we have tried to find a way for the project to go on with us not being present in our Warsaw home all the time, but the limited resources and time we have available have not made this possible.

This is the main reason why after 10 months of sharing coffees with you we have decided we need to bring this project to a close.

We're not closing this door with sadness only, we're actually closing it with a lot of thankfulness for the moments, the learning experiences, the wonderful coffees, and for you - the awesome people that have been part of this project all this time.

Working on this has given us moments of great happiness - I can tell you, nothing really beats hearing positive feedback from people who were loving the coffees in their boxes!

During this whole journey we've featured 20 different roasters from 12 European countries, sharing a total of 49 different coffees!

We have recorded the podcast, which has allowed us to travel to many different corners of the world in the middle of a pandemic. It also gave us the opportunity to bring closer to all of us the lives of people in places as far from us as Costa Rica, Burundi, and Indonesia, people who often live in realities that are wildly different from those of the European coffee drinker.
This whole experience has been great and it has been a wonderful ride.

PS: Even though the Buenos Beans monthly box stops operating, we are still involved in the coffee world - so if there is anything we can be of help, please get in touch with us at [email protected].

With enormous gratitude,

Aga and Juanma from Buenos Beans

September coffee box ☕📦 – Coffees of the month roasted by MABO Coffee Roasters 🇷🇴

Here it comes… The last coffee from our last box – Brazil Fazenda Horizonte by MABO Coffee Roasters. This one is quite classical, but you will also find some nice fruitiness in it.

It’s an omniroast, so you can use it for different brewing methods. It’s great to experiment and see how different a coffee can be as espresso and as filter!

We’ve already sent out all the coffee, but if you’d like to try it, maybe NA BANK can still brew this Brazilian coffee for you 😊 (they only had 2 bags of it, so hurry up!)

Full info about this coffee:

We couldn’t close our last box without putting a proper Brazilian coffee in it. Does Minas Gerais ring a bell? The coffee we send you has already taken you to this region several times, but there is always something new to discover!

Fazenda Horizonte is a plantation run by José Maria Domingos Júnior, who has been growing coffee for the last 20 years.

The farm is very well prepared for growing and processing specialty coffee. Thanks to this José can control all the growing, fermentation and drying processes, delivering consistent quality of coffee over years.

This espresso is quite something! It’s sweet, feels creamy in your mouth, and has a great aftertaste of jammy dried fruit. We love it both solo and with milk 🤤

It’s definitely a crowd-pleaser – you don’t have to be a specialty coffee freak to appreciate it, because the fruity notes don’t overpower the “coffee” taste people are used to. If you have a friend who is not into specialty coffee yet, serve them this coffee. You’ll see they’ll appreciate it! 😃

Most coffee farmers in Peru own less than 2 hectares of land, making it difficult for them to export their coffee independently. In order to have better access to infrastructure and export they gather in cooperatives.

Coopagro Perú cooperative is based on this idea – it unites smaller coffee produces and exports their coffee. The coop is run by a Gian Carlos Vela Guevara who works closely with the farmers. Among other things, he gives them training so that farmers can process their coffee themselves.

Coffees from El Salvador always bring us delicious experiences. You may remember the coconut- pineapple filter by Nømad Coffee Lab&Shop (Spain 🇪🇸) from our April box and more classic-tasting omniroast by Ditta Artigianale (Italy 🇮🇹) from our June box.

This time we bring you a sweet and juicy filter by Holy Bean Coffee Roasters (Denmark 🇩🇰). At the plantation level the beans were treated with attention and care, and at the roastery level Sine found a roast profile that lets all the flavour shine. You just can’t ask for more! 😃

Do you remember the coffees from Ditta Artigianale we shared with you in our July box? One of them came from the same plantation as this one, El Manzano. As we told you at that time, this plantation is part of Cuatro M, Single Origin Coffees, a coffee company founded by Emilio Lopez.

This time you get to try beans from La Cumbre lot, which is placed a bit higher than the rest of the lots at El Manzano. Higher altitude is intended to give this coffee a sweeter profile. We think it worked, because when we cupped it, the caramel fudge notes really shined through! 😃

September coffee box ☕️📦 – Coffees of the month roasted by MABO Coffee Roasters 🇷🇴

This month you have a great opportunity to compare two beautiful coffees from Ethiopia 🇪🇹 – one roasted by Holy Bean Coffee Roasters and the other by MABO Coffee Roasters.

They come from the same region, but they are different varieties (Mixed Heirloom / Kurume) and they went through different processes (washed / honey).

We enjoy them a lot. The one roasted by MABO Coffee Roasters is an omniroast and works great both for all brewing methods 😃 Espresso made with these beans is an absolute flavour shot in your mouth, you must give it a try!

Tesfaye Bekele is one of the innovative forces that shaped the success of Guji coffee. If you’re into Ethiopian specialty coffee, you must have tried beans from one of this coffee guru’s washing stations. And if not, now it’s a great opportunity! 😃

Suke Quto is Bekele’s plantation that stretches over the highlands and valleys of Odo Shakiso in the Guji region. It’s also a washing and drying station where over 170 other farmers deliver their cherries for processing. Bekele knows a thing or two about processing coffee, so their beans are in good hands 😃

When you think Romania you probably think Transylvania, castles and nature. But do you also think “great specialty coffee”? Now you probably will!

This beautiful country is home to several roasting champions, one of them being Bogdan Georgescu, 2019 World Coffee Roasting Vice-Champion 🥈 He is the person behind Mabó and he roasted the coffee you have in your box! 😃

As he says, he’s “an IT guy with lots of passion for coffee” 🤓💻☕ He started his adventure as home barista and roaster about 7 years ago. During the following years he was getting better and better at roasting, which gave him great results in coffee roasting championships on national and international level 🏆

We had a chance to try Mabó coffee for the first time only some weeks ago and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to share it with you in our final box! 😃

Tip: whenever you want to stop for a good coffee in Romania, you can find Mabó guys at their shop in Str. Vulturilor 31, Bucharest. That's the magic place where Bogdan performs his miracles 🧞
