Handal Handicrafts - Bethlehem

Handal Handicrafts - Bethlehem Handcrafting olivewood souvenirs that includes crosses, bracelets, and rosaries. The business has been in the Handal family for three generations.

Handal Handicrafts has been producing quality handmade handicrafts in the Holy Land since 1908. The small workshop is located in Bethlehem and produces a variety of crosses, crucifixes and rosaries that are carved from locally grown olivewood. Johnny (Hanna) Handal, the current proprietor and manager, is the grandson of the founder, Hanna Handal, and learned the family craft from his father Nassar

Handal. Handcrafting, olivewood souvenirs for pilgrims has historically been the primary source of livelihood for indigenous Christian families in Bethlehem. However, the local tourism sector plummeted in recent years due to the political conflict in the Holy Land, and many Bethlehemites have consequently lost their source of income and migrated abroad. Handal Handicrafts created this page in an effort to withstand the shockwaves of the conflict, and to share the Handal family’s tradition of producing fine handicrafts from the Holy Land with the rest of the world.
