An invitation: watch a Palestinian Sunbird for 1.29 minutes instead of listening to someone talk complete nonsense at you. (You’re not going to eat the raw red onion and honey to boost your immune system so don’t even save it).
The Palestinian Sunbird weighs a few grams and is only a few inches long. Easy to miss until the light hits it. Metallic greens, electric blues, flashing through the trees.
This one pauses on a branch for a second. Then it’s gone, cutting through the air to rejoin another.
We would always encourage you to take moments to slow down where possible (many of us have been forced to recently). To look at what’s around you. To learn and understand all the beauty, the toil and the gentle balance that sustains all.
We’ve been trying to learn more about our immediate surroundings and have been grateful to take advantage of the work of some local organisations, community groups and passionate individuals.
Across Palestine, people are holding onto that connection to land and environment under conditions that make even the smallest acts of care and attention absolutely vital.
A special mention to and their work in Ein Qinya (more about this later) and the in our beloved Bil’in.
Enjoy.
