🐟✨ **ENDLER GUPPY — The Tiny Fish With BIG Colors!** 🌿💙
Small body. Massive personality. INSANE colors. 🔥
If you love planted aquariums, nano tanks, or colorful freshwater fish, **Endler’s Livebearers** are one of the most fascinating little fish you can keep.
Known scientifically as ***Poecilia wingei***, Endlers are closely related to the common guppy, but they are a distinct species. They originate from freshwater habitats in Venezuela and have become extremely popular among aquarists because of their incredible colors, peaceful behavior, small size, and easy breeding. 🇻🇪🐠
And here's where it gets REALLY interesting… 👇
# # 🌈 10+ POPULAR ENDLER VARIETIES
Selective breeding has produced an incredible range of colors and patterns.
🔥 **1. Black Bar Endler**
One of the classic Endler patterns, featuring a strong black vertical bar combined with orange, green, or metallic coloration.
🐯 **2. Tiger Endler**
Known for bold orange/yellow and black patterning that gives the fish a tiger-like appearance.
🐍 **3. Cobra Endler**
Features a more intricate, snake-skin-like pattern across the body.
💙 **4. Japan Blue**
Famous for intense metallic blue coloration, especially across the rear portion of the body.
💚 **5. Lime Green**
A bright green/metallic variety that can look incredible under aquarium lighting.
❤️ **6. Red Scarlet**
Strong red and orange coloration makes this one of the most eye-catching Endler strains.
🔥 **7. Red Chest**
Characterized by intense red/orange coloration around the chest and front portion of the body.
🟡 **8. Yellow Tiger**
A yellow-dominant tiger pattern with contrasting black markings.
🦚 **9. Peacock**
Known for colorful metallic markings and complex patterns that can vary considerably between lines.
⚪ **10. El Silverado**
A striking silver/metallic-based Endler line with contrasting body markings.
💚 **11. Ginga Rubra**
A selectively bred line known for strong red/orange coloration and distinctive patterning.
✨ **12. Wild-Type / Locality Endlers**
Wild or locality-associated populations can display incredibly beautiful combinations of metallic green, orange, black and blue without having the exaggerated appearance of some selectively bred aquarium strains.
⚠️ **IMPORTANT:** Not every fish sold as an “Endler Guppy” is a pure *Poecilia wingei*.
Endlers can freely hybridize with common guppies (*Poecilia reticulata*), producing fertile offspring. Many of the extremely colorful fish available in the aquarium trade are actually **Endler × Guppy hybrids**.
So if you're trying to maintain a true Endler line, always ask the breeder about the fish's lineage.

# # 🏡 ENDLER GUPPY CARE GUIDE
# # # 💧 WATER PARAMETERS
Endlers are adaptable, but they generally do well in stable, moderately hard to hard water.
🌡️ **Temperature:** 22–28°C
💧 **pH:** approximately 7.0–8.5
🪨 **GH:** moderate to hard
☠️ **Ammonia:** 0 ppm
☠️ **Nitrite:** 0 ppm
💦 **Nitrate:** preferably kept relatively low
There isn't one magical number that makes Endlers healthy. **Stable, clean water is more important than constantly chasing a specific pH.**
If your aquarium is properly cycled and your water parameters remain stable, Endlers are generally very forgiving fish.

# # 🌿 THE PERFECT ENDLER AQUASCAPE
This is where Endlers REALLY shine. 😍
Imagine:
🌱 Dense green plants
🍃 Floating plants
🪨 Natural rocks
🪵 Small pieces of driftwood
🐟 A group of colorful Endlers cruising through the plants
Plants such as:
🌿 Java Moss
🌿 Anubias
🌿 Bucephalandra
🌿 Cryptocoryne
🌿 Guppy Grass
🌿 Water Sprite
🌿 Java Fern
🌿 Floating plants
can create an amazing Endler habitat.
Dense plants also provide valuable hiding spaces for newborn fry.
A dark substrate can make those metallic colors and orange/red markings POP even more. 🔥

# # 🐠 HOW MANY ENDLERS SHOULD YOU KEEP?
A small group can work in a properly maintained aquarium, but **more space gives you much better population control and water stability.**
For a breeding colony, something around **40–60 liters or larger** is much easier to manage than a tiny aquarium.
And remember…
🚨 **ENDLERS BREED A LOT!**
So the question isn't usually:
“Will they breed?”
It's:
**“What am I going to do with all these babies?” 😂**

# ❤️ MALE VS FEMALE
This is one of the coolest things about Endlers.
♂️ **Males**
✨ Smaller
🌈 Extremely colorful
⚡ Active
🎨 Metallic green/blue/orange/black patterns
🐟 Slim body
♀️ **Females**
🤍 Larger
🌫️ Usually silver/gray or less colorful
⭕ Rounder body
👶 Carry developing fry
The males spend a lot of time displaying their colors and courting females.

# 👶 BREEDING ENDLERS
If you want to breed fish, Endlers are ridiculously easy compared with many other aquarium species.
They are **livebearers**, meaning the female gives birth to free-swimming babies instead of laying eggs.
Under good conditions, females can produce fry repeatedly, often around every few weeks. Brood size varies with the female's size, age and conditions.
# # # Want MORE fry?
🌿 Add dense plants
🍃 Use floating plants
🧽 Use a gentle sponge filter
🍽️ Feed small, nutritious foods
💧 Keep water clean and stable
Newborn fry can hide among dense vegetation and have a much better chance of surviving.
# # # Want FEWER fry?
Keep an **all-male Endler display group**.
You'll get the colors and activity without turning your aquarium into a livebearer factory. 😂🔥
---
# 🍽️ WHAT DO ENDLERS EAT?
Endlers are omnivores and have tiny mouths, so appropriately sized food is important.
Good options include:
🐟 High-quality micro pellets
🌾 Crushed flakes
🦐 Baby brine shrimp
🦠 Daphnia
❄️ Frozen foods
🌱 Some algae/biofilm
A varied diet helps support growth, health and coloration.
Instead of dumping a huge amount of food into the aquarium, offer **small portions that the fish can consume quickly.**
Overfeeding is one of the easiest ways to create water-quality problems.
---
# 🤝 BEST TANK MATES
Because Endlers are small and peaceful, choose tank mates carefully.
Good possibilities include other peaceful nano/community species such as:
🐟 Small tetras
🐟 Small rasboras
🐟 Corydoras
🐌 Snails
🦐 Adult shrimp
But remember:
⚠️ Tiny Endler fry can become food for larger fish.
Avoid aggressive or predatory fish that may see your Endlers as lunch.
And if you're trying to maintain a **pure Endler line**, don't keep them with common guppies because they can hybridize.

# 🌿 WHY ENDLERS ARE AMAZING FOR AQUASCAPING
There are some fish that simply look better in a planted aquarium…
Endlers are one of them. 💚
Their small size means they don't visually dominate the aquascape.
Instead, their bright colors move through the plants like tiny living ornaments.
A school of metallic blue, orange, red and green males moving through a dense planted tank can create an absolutely stunning display. 🤩🌿🐟
They're especially attractive in:
🌱 Nature-style aquascapes
🌿 Jungle tanks
💧 Nano planted tanks
🍃 Low-tech planted aquariums
🪨 Rock-based layouts
🌿 Shrimp & nano fish communities
---
# # ⚠️ ONE BIG WARNING
**DON'T RELEASE ENDLERS INTO NATURAL WATERWAYS.**
Even tiny aquarium fish can become invasive when introduced into environments where they don't naturally occur.
If your colony becomes too large, rehome the fish through another aquarist, local fish store, or responsible hobbyist community.
---
# 🐟 SO… ARE ENDLERS WORTH KEEPING?
**Absolutely.** 🔥
They're:
✅ Small
✅ Peaceful
✅ Colorful
✅ Active
✅ Hardy
✅ Beginner-friendly
✅ Excellent for planted tanks
✅ Fascinating to breed
✅ Available in many different color patterns
But their biggest advantage?
**You don't need a huge aquarium to enjoy an incredible display of color.** 🌿💙
Whether you're keeping a carefully selected breeding line or simply want a colorful planted-tank community, Endlers are one of those fish that can make you stop and watch the aquarium for way longer than you planned. 😂🐟
