Featured Fish Friday - The Red Fairy Anthias

(Pseudanthias kashiwae)

This week we have a group of five. Anthias do their best in groups.

These guys are a great reef-safe option for adding tons of motion to an aquarium with ample swimming room.

Anthias come with a built-in succession plan. As protogynous hermaphrodites, if the male is lost, the largest female can change s*x and become the male of the group.

Featured Fish Friday - Meet the Neon Goby

(Elacatinus oceanops) Besides being beautiful, their glowing blue stripe advertises their utility as a cleaner fish.

Small but full of personality these guys are fully reef safe. Excellent for nano tanks and large reef systems.

The Convict Tang - Acanthurus triostegus

These guys can be kept in groups in large aquariums. Provided they are added simultaneously, of a similar size, and provided with multiple feedings per day.

Another fan favorite at QT Reef, this Convict and his cell mate are available and ready to escape to their new home!

*Breaking news: cellmate has escaped and is now hiding out in Georgia! The convict is still waiting on his big breakout…..🐠

Bimaculatus Anthias - Always a customer favorite here at QT Reef!

Unique Copperband Butterfly - This fish arrived at QT Reef 8 months ago and we were drawn to his abnormal dorsal fin and lack of false eyespot. Other than the one off appearance this fish swims and behaves normally.

Cubicus Boxfish - Ostracion cubicum

Those colors are a warning sign that this little fella means business.

If overly stressed this boxfish can release a poison called ostracitoxin which can quickly kill other fish.
