La jumătatea UTMB, era 98% sigur că va renunța.
După 44 de ore și 16 minute, trecea linia de sosire.
Julien Veysseyre a devenit primul sportiv cu amputație care a încheiat cursa UTMB Mont-Blanc.
Francezul de 39 de ani și-a pierdut piciorul drept sub genunchi, într-un accident de muncă, la 18 ani. Pe traseul din jurul Mont Blancului a fost însoțit, pe rând, de cinci ghizi și a folosit două proteze diferite: una cu lamă din carbon pentru urcări și una mai stabilă pentru coborârile tehnice.
La Courmayeur, la jumătatea cursei, era aproape convins că nu va mai pleca. Dar acel 2% a fost suficient.
A trecut linia de sosire alături de copiii săi și de întreaga echipă care l-a susținut.
Uneori, diferența dintre abandon și finish încape într-un singur 2%.

Julien Veysseyre crossed the UTMB finish line on Sunday afternoon in 44:16:04, becoming the first amputee to complete the Mont Blanc loop.
The 39-year-old Frenchman finished 1,475th overall out of roughly 2,400 starters. Five guides took turns with him across two nights on the trail. Part of what they carried was a second prosthesis, swapped in as the terrain changed. A carbon blade for the climbs. A more stable everyday prosthetic for the technical descents.
He nearly stopped at Courmayeur, the halfway point. "It was 98 percent sure I was not going back out," he said at the finish. He did.
Veysseyre lost his right leg below the knee in a workplace accident when he was 18. He was 2023 Para Cross Triathlon world champion before he moved to the trails. He finished CCC in 2025. On Sunday he finished the full UTMB.
He crossed the arch with his children and the adaptive team beside him.
