The body for the next guitar comes straight outta the 80s. And somewhere on it, I gotta put some 80s-era junk—cigarette butts were big back then. How the hell do you get cigarette butts INTO a guitar!?
With a ‘butt veneer’ on the headstock, of course!

Wenge is an incredibly beautiful material. Chocolate brown with almost black stripes. It is also very hard and has a natural impregnation. The wood’s fine dust can also cause severe irritation to the respiratory tract, eyes, and skin. It also easily gives brittle splinters that have a tendency to cause stubborn infections. And that’s kind of exciting.

What’s there to say about the ...?
Only one word comes to mind, and that’s a damn success! Not just from a festival standpoint—with all the great shows, artists, and the crowd—but five people actually went home with genuine, signed J.F. Zatara instruments.

My thanks to all the colorful, wild, inspiring, blunt, skeptical, over-served, friendly, humble, and happy people I got the chance to talk with. I had a hell of a time, and it sure looked like you did too.

Time to hit the road again. This time, heading to the Åmål Blues Festival. So many great artists and musicians gathered in one place.
Come Friday and Saturday, my instruments will be set up inside the Blues Terminal. Let’s see if the folks there can take in the J.F. Zatara manifesto. Bound to be some memorable encounters either way. Should be interesting.
