This time, Alexandra, our Multimedia Designer & Roastery Production Assistant, takes you through the thinking behind our coffee info cards.

“One of the biggest inspirations behind our coffee info cards came from an unexpected place, a Pixar movie.

In Ratatouille, flavors aren’t just tasted, they’re visualized. As Remy experiences different ingredients, colours, shapes and music come together to show the emotion and complexity of every bite. That idea stuck with us.”

We wanted to create something that tells the you more of each coffee. The color splashes are our interpretation of the flavors in the cup, while the rest of the card is built to make specialty coffee more approachable and easier to understand, the coffee’s origin, producer, process and variety, to its tasting notes.

Every element has a purpose. Together, they help tell the story behind the coffee before you even take your first sip.

The usual 98 gang is taking a little summer break from June 9th to July 6th☕️

From July 15th we’re handing over the keys and inviting some of our favourite people into the space to share what they love most.

For the next month, 1998 becomes home to a series of pop-ups by our friends & family

— from baked goods and fika to music, culture and community. Each one bringing their own passion, flavour and story into the café.

This has always been more than just coffee for us. It’s about people, ideas and creativity to meet.
Come hang, discover something new, support local creatives and spend the start of the summer with our friends and family ❤️

Calm your horses, a lot of ya'll have been waiting for the return of something like this one... Let us introduce: CACAO CRAZE, a natural processed field blend from Sancoffee in the Campo das Vertentes region of Brazil✨

•Aroma: Cacao and Hazelnuts
•Tasting notes: layers of cacao, cacao butter, caramel, almonds and royal gala red apples
•Body: medium rich body, mild sweet citric acidity and an lingering sweet cacao aftertaste

This coffee is one of the farms core processing recipes, crafted annually with consistent quality from cooperative member farms in the Campo das Vertentes region of Brazil. Selectively mechanically harvested and naturally processed without water contact, it is patio-dried and finished in mechanical dryers for uniformity. T

he cup offers classic Brazilian notes of milk chocolate, sweetness, and full body. Founded in 2000, Sancoffee is a B-Corp certified cooperative committed to quality, transparency, and long-term sustainability

In the full transparency, we know that a lot of you are waiting for the return of CHOCOLATE ESTATE, but when working with small farmers/producers sometimes the harvests doesn't always go as planned. For the respect to the craft and the people behind it we can't do anything more than letting them do their thing and hope for it's return❤️

But in the meantime, here's a coffee to sip on, not as a replacement or a substitute but as it's own beautiful craft, enjoy 🍫🌰🫶

JUNGLE BRID, a 90h experimental fermentation Catuai Vermelho from Fazenda Inhame in Brazil☀️

•Aroma: Nectar and bright red wine.
•Tasting notes: layers of tropical fruits, pineapple, juniper berries, blood orange
•Body: juicy body, a medium/high lingering citric acidity and a lemonade aftertaste

At Fazenda Inhame, coffee is grown with a deep respect for rhythm, of land, weather, and time. Set among rolling hills and open skies, the farm is shaped by close observation and careful decisions made season after season.

Cherries are harvested at peak ripeness, guided by the team’s intimate knowledge of each plot and its potential. Fermentation and drying are approached as extensions of farming itself, not separate steps, carried out with patience and constant attention.

At Inhame, experimentation lives alongside tradition, rooted in the belief that great coffee begins long before processing, in the quiet, daily work of tending the land in Brazil.
