Not quite Breakfast At Tiffany’s but a Full English at 45, Jermyn Street, aka Fortnum & Mason.
A very generous birthday breakfast.
However, with decades of experience you’d hope it expect they’d get it right by now. Only speed makes breakfast even remotely difficult. The scrambled eggs were good, the mushroom not bad either but the rest fell apart quickly. Anemic tomatoe though at this time of year, no real surprise. The unforgivable bit is the inability to present half-decent bacon or sausage. The fault of almost all “fancy” breakfast abodes, they cook the bacon earlier & just leave to warm somewhere, meanwhile any notion of flavour has gradually evaporated. The sausage shrinking too as it cools. How difficult is it to have one pan dedicated to frying bacon & cook it, fresh?! Baked beans okay but hard to mess that up. The toast wasn’t toasted, it was bread, so it got sent back. Pot of tea was okay however. To get a good English Breakfast, remember the flavour of the bacon is the most important. A Bakery that has lousy croissants, would you go back?
A solid dining room however & the room was packed with 39-something Hedgies in their sleeveless tops & annoying back packs. So many backpacks (30+) in the cloak room that I thought a Troop of Boy Scouts or German parachutists were in the house.
