Foam – one of our absolute favorite materials for dry flies!

Foam is lightweight, water-repellent, and incredibly versatile. It’s perfect for everything from foam grasshoppers, beetles, and poppers to bodies, wings, and heads on all kinds of dry flies.

What we especially like is how easy it is to shape and customize. You can create everything from small, detailed bodies to larger attractor patterns, while the foam provides excellent buoyancy and helps keep your fly riding high on the surface, even in fast-moving water.

It’s also a great material for creating extended bodies on caddisflies and mayflies, where its low weight and durability really come into their own.

We offer foam from several different brands and in a wide range of colors, making it easy to find the right material for your fly patterns.

Simple, effective and incredibly quick to tie.

The Poly Emerger is proof that you don’t need a complicated fly to fool selective trout and grayling. With only one material you get a highly effective emerger that performs when fish are locked onto insects in the surface film.

In our latest blog post we explain why Klingberg Bug Yarn is one of our favorite materials for this pattern and why it pairs so well with the Firehole 413 hook.

As usual you’ll also find a complete step-by-step tying tutorial from and a full materials list.

Foam Buggy Caddis – The Caddis That Floats Like a Cork!

A buggy silhouette, an extended body and a foam construction that keeps the fly riding high in the surface film—a combination that trout and grayling often find hard to resist.

In our latest blog post we take a closer look at how we tie the Foam Buggy Caddis, why we use the Detached Body Tool together with the Firehole 413 hook and what makes this pattern so effective.

You’ll also find a complete materials list and step-by-step tying tutorial if you’d like to tie a few of your own.

Now that we’re back from our latest trip to the Swedish mountains, it’s time to look back on the patterns that truly delivered.

One fly that rarely left our leader was the Deer Hair Emerger. A simple yet incredibly effective pattern that consistently fooled both trout and grayling throughout the week.

Tied with Peacock Tinsel for a subtle shimmer and Hybrid Squirrel Dubbing for a buggy, lifelike body, it’s a fly we trust from the first hatches of the season to the last.

We’ve shared the full pattern and material list on the blog.

A caddis pattern that rides high, drifts naturally in the surface film and is surprisingly easy to tie.

The Bubble Caddis by is tied using just CDC, making it as simple as it is effective. SwissCDC Super Select feathers provide exceptional buoyancy while creating lifelike movement on the water, making this an incredibly effective pattern when caddis are hatching.

The full materials list and step-by-step tying tutorial are available in our latest blog post.

When fish become selective, it’s often the small details that make all the difference.

The Black Midge Caddis is an incredibly effective pattern in these situations, especially when you’re not quite sure what the fish are feeding on or when tiny insects dominate the surface.

In our latest blog post we take a closer look at the recommended hook sizes and why Ultra Dry Yarn and Klingberg Bug Yarn have become two of the go-to materials for tying wings.

The full tying tutorial by , along with all the materials needed to tie this fly is now available on our blog.

CDC is in our opinion one of the most underrated materials in fly tying. Thanks to its ability to float exceptionally well and move naturally on the water, it’s a go-to choice for many dry flies.

In our latest blog post we take a closer look at a simple yet highly effective CDC pattern where the material truly takes center stage. Combined with Coq de Leon, it creates a fly with a great silhouette and a presentation that can be hard for trout to resist.

Read the full article on our blog for the step-by-step tying instructions by , material choices, and more thoughts on why CDC deserves far more attention than it gets.

Tired of constantly greasing your dry flies just to keep them afloat?

The “Extended Caddis” combines realistic proportions with incredible flotation thanks to one of our favorite fly-tying materials: foam. The result is a fly that floats like a cork while still maintaining a natural silhouette and lifelike movement on the water.

This version, tied by is featured in our latest blog post where we take a closer look at how we create realistic segmented extended bodies, why the Hanak Klinkhammer hook has become one of our go-to choices, and the material blend behind the buggy thorax.
