Luang Phor Kasem Black Sacred Wood Takrud: Many Have Heard of It, But Few Have Truly Seen One

Takrud Mai Niw Dam B.E. 2527
Luang Phor Kasem (73rd Birthday Batch)
Wat Sushan Trailak, Lampang
Material: Mai Niw Dam (Black Sacred Wood)
Both ends inscribed with the code “Na”

In the spiritual traditions of Northern Thailand, there is a mysterious material that almost sounds like a legend — Mai Niw Dam, or Black Sacred Wood.

This rare wood grows deep within ancient forests. It is naturally jet-black and extremely hard. Elder practitioners say that a true Black Sacred Wood tree may take hundreds of years to appear, making it one of the rarest sacred materials known in traditional amulet making.

Amulets made from this wood are believed to be inherently sacred. Even without additional consecration, they are said to help repel negative forces and harmful magic, while symbolizing good fortune, business prosperity, and overall well-being.

In B.E. 2527 (1984), the legendary Northern Thai monk Luang Phor Kasem used this rare Black Sacred Wood to create Takrud amulets and personally blessed them. Both ends of the Takrud are inscribed with his signature “Na” code, marking their authentic lineage.

What makes this batch even more meaningful is that it was created to raise funds for the construction of Wat Boon Yuen in Northern Thailand.

A sacred wood that may take centuries to appear, the blessings of a legendary monk, and the merit of building a temple — all these elements combined make the Black Sacred Wood Takrud one of the most fascinating and highly sought-after pieces among serious collectors.
