Over 120 years ago, two families shaped Miele: the Miele and Zinkann families.

In 1899, with four lathes and one drilling machine, the engineer Carl Miele and the businessman Reinhard Zinkann founded a company to manufacture cream separators. Miele then started producing wooden churners, where they engraved the credo "Immer Besser" ("Forever Better") on it, which became the founders’ business philosophy.

This technology was so influential, that in 1901 it was used to produce a piece of technology that we cannot live without today – Miele’s 1st washing machine called Meteor.

Who would have thought that something so simple, will create such a big impact?

We’re proud and excited to present the journey of Rosalyn Lee as we celebrate 20 years of Miele in Singapore 🇸🇬

When asked to describe herself, Rozz says that it doesn’t matter what she would like the world to know about her, as people would have their own opinions of her, and instead, she would rather just focus on living her best life!

Reminiscing about her earliest memories of cooking, Rosalyn spoke of her late mum - her food mentor - with her sharp palate, who taught Rozz about flavour balance and making her appreciate taste nuances. It was her mum’s inclusion of bitter gourd in almost every meal that got her asking her mum “why?” to have her simply reply “it is the bitterness that helps cuts through the rich and fatty flavours of other dishes, and reset your tastebuds and adds balance to an otherwise ‘jelak’ meal”. And today, bitter gourd has become one of her favorite things to eat.

Rosalyn’s relationship with Miele began in 2017. And her cool Miele memory is the press trip we did together to Berlin in 2017, for the launch of our Dialog Oven. Besides getting to know the clever product, Rozz mentions she had the opportunity to meet and connect with many like-minded foodies, and cultivate friendships with some of them that still lasts to this day.
We’re proud to celebrate not just 20 years of Miele in Singapore, but all these beautiful partnerships that we have developed over the last few decades.

It’s been long and we’ve missed desserts, we hear you did too.

Join us as our in-house chef Lennard Yeong makes a deliciously mouthwatering chocolate and coffee dessert, prepared using our coffee machine and steam oven.

If you’re interested in making it yourself, please check the recipe below.

The ingredients you’ll need to use are: white sugar, brown sugar, hazelnut meal, cocoa powder, espresso shots and eggs.

Method:
- First put two espresso shots through our coffee machine and leave it to cool to room temperature
- Next melt chocolate and butter using a metal bowl on a bain-marie, melting the two ingredients nice and smooth
- Add the rest of ingredients such as white sugar, brown sugar, hazelnut meal, cocoa powder and finally the espresso
- Give all the ingredients a thorough whisk to mix it all together
- Finally add in the eggs and give it another whisk to create a cohesive batter
- Pour in the batter into a lined cake tin to bake it at 160 for 50 minutes (set it one-minute minor)

We hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy this chocolate and coffee delish.

We’re proud and excited to present the journey of Diana Ser as we celebrate 20 years of Miele in Singapore 🇸🇬

Diana calls herself a storyteller - who tells stories for her country, and as well for her clients. And this is her "scrambled egg pitch" because her story is quick, just like her scrambled egg.
Her earliest memory of food takes her back to rice - the humble fried rice served at a 10 course meal in a Chinese wedding, and her mother-in-law’s rice porridge where she swears you can taste the love that has gone into cooking it. Both simple dishes, but full of possibilities.

Diana spoke to us about her journey with food, which didn’t begin until late. Up until then, she says both herself and her husband would rely on quick and convenient stir-fry dishes. But it all changed when their firstborn started on solid food, and it was only then that she developed a keen interest in cooking - and the rest, is history.

Diana’s relationship with Miele began when she was looking for a fridge for her brand new home kitchen, and came across the Miele range which was a “WOW” moment for her. She says the fridge is a perfect addition to her family of 5 which includes 3 teenagers, and always wows her guests with its size and capacity.

We’re proud to celebrate not just 20 years of Miele in Singapore, but all these beautiful partnerships that we have developed over the last few decades.

What’s your Miele story?

We’re proud and excited to present the journey of Michelin Star Chef Julien Royer as we celebrate 20 years of Miele in Singapore 🇸🇬

Known for his focus on seasonality in his dishes, Chef Julien says there are two things stand out the most: it is that love can be demonstrated through food and cooking, and some of the most remarkable dishes can come from the simplest ingredients. It’s not about skill and fancy produce.

Reminiscing about one of his earliest memories of food, Chef Julien notes that it is his grandmother’s cooking that inspired his love for food. One of his fondest memories is of her redcurrant jam – simmering slowly, as they added vanilla and juniper berries bit by bit, which would make the whole house smell so amazingly fragrant.

Chef Julien’s relationship with Meile began 15 years ago when he went to cook a private dinner in at a client’s home in London. He recalls being “bowled over by the technology and innovation” in his client’s fully Miele equipped kitchen. Recalling his favorite memory of Miele, Chef Julien says it was the collaboration he did with Chef Kyle Connaughton to celebrate the launch of the Generation 7000 range of Miele appliances in Singapore in 2019, with a 6-course menu for the VIPs and media partners where they both designed equal halves of the menu.

We’re proud to celebrate not just 20 years of Miele in Singapore, but all these beautiful partnerships that we have developed over the last few decades.
