Had my first terrifying and wonderful night doing live drawing for the FIRST time ever! Thank you .zafar.art this is what I needed to beat my fear of drawing people! What better way than to draw the beautiful and her poses

One thing is for sure, I had the best time ever and now I guess I draw people (lack of proportion and rules of anatomy be damned) all that matters is that I had fun 🤩

Had so many excuses to not go sketching this morning in the heat, but made a promise to some new sketch buddies that I would show up and Im glad I did. Nothing like me time/art time to start the weekend! Thanks for the nudge to come out and sketch + play!

Yesterday I finally met a bunch of urban sketchers in Singapore at a dear friend’s lunch and I can’t tell you how nice it felt. Made me think of the lovely little urban sketching community I had in London. I would cycle up and brave the weather just to spend a morning sketching. It became a great way to discover London and to meet fellow artists. It was honestly the best thing to do in a new city.

Here’s a photo of me on a London spring day in 2022, trying to soak up some sun in Regents park and getting some feedback on my work from the pros.

One thing common among Urban sketchers everywhere- it’s a safe space to sketch (whether you’re a master or amateur) it’s just pure fun and good vibes all the way.

Looking forward to getting out and painting more (even if it means braving the heat) and dusting off my sketchbook!

Sunday Funday sketching with the kids from and best sketching company . One of those rare breezy mornings, under the shade with perfectly blue skies, dragon boat racers, and chatting and painting away with the kids. Hard to believe I only joined this group in May, it feels like I have known them forever. It has been such a fun highlight of my year, thank you for creating this space and .zafar.art

After a long break, I joined my favourite sketching adults and kids on a sunday morning in the back alleyways of Ann Siang Hill. We chatted and drew together, ate rice crackers and I learnt about kpop demon hunters.

Talked and guided them through how I ā€œcheatedā€ by not making the window pane white or sticking to the right angles while painting windows. Even got a ā€œ i like your lines they look like Aiā€ from one of the kids, which I assume is a complement šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Sunday Funday playing with my sketchbook after ages!

Back from Portugal šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ with many sketches in my sketchbook and many memories made. With streets filled with gorgeous tiles to handpainted arts everywhere, it’s the most inspiring setting for any artist!

This is me on a rooftop after walking up the hilly streets of Lisbon (and missing my tram) I was rewarded with a beautiful sunset and one last empty table to sit on and do a quick sketch before the sun set. Thanks to my art friend she inspired me to paint small - this is the smallest paper I could find! Ditched my a4 sketchbook and decided to go small (to finish before the sunset) I could surprisingly capture a lot of details overlooking the Alfama.

No google, no chatgbt reccos- just the good ol walking till your legs hurt and I stumbled into this rooftop. Lisbon stole my heart, with its colourful houses, kid people and amazing food!

My phone reminded me of this 3 year Anniversary of visiting Monet’s Garden!!! What a dream it was to be walking in and around Monet’s house and garden and the memories made even more special to share it with a dear artist friend.

I remember we woke up really early that morning and rushed to the bus and sat at the back giggling and excited. It was a gorgeous summer day and we walked sooo much talking about art, life and love šŸ’• we moved through room by room looking at an artist’s home we both admired so much.

As I pack my suitcase for some travel, I want to remind myself to take 10-15minutes over this trip to sketch. These little 10min sketches in mixed media were supposed to become bigger paintings when I got home but never did as life got in the way, but I look back at them so fondly it transports me RIGHT back there, that balmy summer day, two excited artists and a memorable day in Giverny, France.

Sketchbooks aren’t supposed to be masterpieces anyway right, to me it serves as a journal of core memories in a way photos just can’t capture.

Taught some kids how to drip paint some bear 🐻 keychains today!

Randomly my mum’s friend asked me to volunteer and teach some kids to paint and I said ā€œyes sureā€ assuming it would be watercolours or sketching. When I got to the booth realized it was drip painting (something I have never done before) so I learnt how to do it along with these amazing kids (something of whom were better than me)

Got my hands messy with paint, learnt something fun and spent time learning and unlearning with a bunch of kids - all in all a very fun Saturday!

70 years of Serangoon Gardens and I celebrated with my fav kids & sketchers .plus ! Today we painted one of the oldest Singpost’s on the island from the 1950s, adjacent we see the postman’s living quarters painted in a cerulean blue.

Highlight included getting selected as one of the judges favorite pieces and I’m thrilled the kids we mentor getting positive attention and encouragement for their art work. So proud to be a part of this gang, please check out the amazing work .plus does and sign up to be a volunteer with us.

Last photo is a shoutout to my newly adopted mum and queen if turquoise .zafar.art (as two different sketchers asked if I was her daughter) šŸ‘§šŸ½
