Customer feedback on the Wet Noodle nib using Diamine Red Dragon on Clairefontaine paper.
A good example of how strongly ink, feed and paper interact in flex writing.

Sharing an independent review of the BlueDew Wet Noodle fountain pen, by Teoh Yi Chie from Parka Blogs.

Yi Chie is an artist and urban sketcher, so it was interesting to see the pen from an illustrator’s perspective rather than purely a fountain pen enthusiast’s.

If you’re curious about modern steel flex nibs, I hope you enjoy the review.

One of the most difficult things about flex nib tuning is balancing two opposite requirements.

A finer unflexed line usually benefits from a drier, more controlled setup. But broad flexed swells need generous and consistent ink flow.

Over the past few days, I have been experimenting with a new nib preparation method to better balance these two characteristics.

The result is very encouraging: finer normal lines, more consistent flex swells, and improved ink flow recovery during repeated flex writing.

This is still hand-tuned work, and every nib is individually adjusted and tested before shipping, but I am very happy with the direction this is taking.

Small refinements like this are not always visible from the outside, but they make a meaningful difference in how the pen writes.
