While Guimet in Paris currently celebrates trompe l'oeil and the art of illusion in the Korean tradition of books and precious objects' paintings (chaekgeori), we know of its roots in 18th century China, where the European artistic influence of 3-dimension representation and optical illusion met with local symbolism.
