Restarting the Field Notes Journey.

Rather than hopping from one pocket notebook brand to another, I’ve set myself a new goal — to complete at least 10 Field Notes in a row.

Field Notes Expedition edition.

Simply put it, Field Notes Expedition is VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE.

This notebook has a hi-visibility “Antarctic Survey Orange” front cover and “Polar Night Black” back cover, with a subtle varnish effect featuring a topographic map of Antarctica.

The body pages feature our popular dot-graph paper printed in light gray.

The whole book is printed on Yupo Synthetic paper, an amazing tearproof and waterproof paper extruded from polypropylene pellets in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Note: Synthetic paper is nonporous and does not absorb ink like our conventional papers. Ballpoint pens, pencils, or fine tip Sharpies work best.

GDP - Goals, Dreams & Projects notebook.

I started this notebook with the aim to keep track of my goals/dreams/projects so that I am aware of the progression.

How I do it?

I started the notebook with an introduction page, follow by two pages of Content Page.

Each project starts on a new page (or two), with the title on the top left hand corner, written inside a rectangular box.

I choose Field Notes Original Kraft plain paper because it’s easier for me to bring around and the white paper gives comfort to my eyes when I write.

10-days into the notebook, I find myself more organised as I’m able to brain dump the necessaries into the notebook. It’s definitely worth doing.

The 18th Notebook.

I started using passport size notebook as a daily carry since Feb 2021.

I got addicted to it because it is neat and simple - the minimalist style; the paper quality is good - it is able to take water colour and allows me to write with (wet) fountain pens. Most important, it is priced reasonably.

The whole idea is to keep my notebook plain and simple, but from 12th notebook onwards, I started pasting stickers and labels outside the notebook (disappointed with myself actually).

Moving on, I’ll keep the cover plain and nice; and stencil the number on the top right hand corner.

By the way, do you have the notebooks without the label in front?

I chanced upon this sharing from and it is a good reminder that I should always carry a notebook.

Out of the 7 points, point number 2 says it all - You can use it for everything.

Although I carry many notebooks, but The Gentleman Notebook is the one I go to the most; that is the book for everything.
