Throwback: The Great Funan Transformation of '94

In 1994, Funan Centre began its transformation into Funan The IT Mall — a major two-phase renovation. Half the tenants stayed, half had to relocate. We were lucky enough to stay put through all the noise and dust!

Our new unit 03-36 fell under Phase 2, so we temporarily moved to unit 02-23 on the second floor. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise — we were right beside the overhead bridge leading to the temporary food centre next to Hill Street Central Fire Station. A staircase there connected straight to Fort Canning Park, while another led to Funan. Customers could grab a meal and take a stroll either at the park or around Funan. That bridge brought us so much lunch and dinner crowd exposure — many of our regulars still remember it! 🌉

To stay on as a Funan The IT Mall tenant, our shop had to match the mall's new image. So we brought in a Hong Kong designer for unit 03-36 — and it paid off big time. Our current logo, also designed by a Hong Kong artist, was cleverly worked into the interior to disguise a massive pillar. Smart, right?

Swipe through for photos of our temporary unit 02-23 shop — way bigger than our old 3rd floor space! We used the extra room to expand into official caps, tees, and sweatshirts from Hardcore and Metal bands. We even installed a CCTV camera back in 1994 — it's now a "museum piece" on display at our current store, unit 02-15 Excelsior Shopping Centre. Come spot it next time you drop by! 📹

Haven't seen our old 03-36 shop, or want a trip down memory lane? Stay tuned — more throwback photos coming next month. Akan Datang... 👀

A Treasured Collectible 💿✨

Yvonne (YVONNE林毅恩): "I still can't believe I managed to get the WOODZ - OO-LI vinyl! This release was incredibly hard to buy — it required official fanclub membership, was limited to one copy per person, and sold out so quickly it became almost impossible to find afterward.

I searched everywhere for it, but most listings disappeared instantly or were massively overpriced. Huge thanks to Paul and his team for helping me secure a copy of such a rare release. As a WOODZ fan, this honestly feels more like a treasured collectible than just a vinyl."

Have you ever felt as triumphant as Yvonne? 🙌 We Roxy Records & Trading feel equally elated to help our customers fulfil their wish. Like Yvonne, let our ordering service help you track down the release you've been chasing.

Meet Lau Yuh Ning ( ), a devoted Jackson Wang (王嘉爾) fan, proudly holding her copy of the "Mirrors" vinyl! 🎶✨

Jackson Wang is a Hong Kong rapper, singer, and songwriter, best known as a member of the K-pop group GOT7, which he joined in 2014. Since going solo, all three of his albums have charted on the US Billboard 200 — a testament to his global reach as an artist.

Yuh Ning's favourite track on this album is "Bullet to the Heart" 🎧

In her own words:
"Ever since I started collecting Jackson Wang's vinyl, I've really wanted to own 'Mirrors' — his first solo album. It was a limited release in 2019 that sold out very quickly, and it's now extremely hard to find on the market. After searching for a long time, I finally found it through Roxy Records. Thank you, Paul and the team!" — Yuh Ning

Thank you, Yuh Ning, for your trust and support! Enjoy the album! 🖤

Sharing a love for the same artist with your sister 💿✨

At Roxy Records' window display, "Taylor Swift's Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) Act 1, 2LP" waited for its rightful owner. Yvar Merlin (𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟) bought the vinyl. There were 2 more albums in the series. Together with her sister, they ordered them through Roxy Records' ordering service.

"So excited to finally complete my Eras Tour vinyl collection! Huge thanks to Roxy Records for helping us find every piece. Looking forward to growing my vinyl collection with even more amazing artists from Roxy!" ~ Yvar Merlin

To top that, they bought Taylor Swift's 2026 RSD "Elizabeth Taylor" on 7" vinyl as well. Enjoy the albums, Yvar Merlin and sister! 🎶

Jimi Hendrix is a gifted guitarist. Even though he passed away 56 years ago at age 27, he held a special place in Angeline's heart. "My favourite instrument is the guitar and to me Jimi Hendrix is the best to ever play. I am inspired at how his short career influenced generations. It is a testament to his greatness."

Angeline Louis, an American born to Haitian parents, came to Roxy Records to look around. She spotted Jimi Hendrix's book and asked if we have anything by Jimi Hendrix. We have Jimi Hendrix's box set (pre-loved). Without hesitation, she said: "I need to have this no matter what it takes!" While inspecting the contents of the box set, Angeline mentioned that she has Jimi Hendrix's portrait. She declared: "I will display this box set next to the portrait. I won't let anyone touch it. I won't play the vinyl in the box set too!"

A true fan and the rightful owner of this Jimi Hendrix box set.
