How closely do you look at your tetras? ๐ŸŒธ

The Rosy Crystalline Tetra is a subtle one. From a distance it's a soft pink glow. Up close, you see the clear body, the deep red dorsal fin and a dark patch just behind the gills.

It never shouts for attention, and that's what makes it special to a tetra collector.

Raccoon Tiger Shrimp come from the mountains of China, and they're extremely hardy. They thrive without a chiller, which makes life a lot easier in our climate.

The look is all in the stripes: a transparent white body crossed by thick, dark bands. A group picking over moss is a calm thing to watch.

A Peugeot Tetra on its own never looks quite right. ๐ŸŸ

This is a fish that wants company. Keep five or more together and they're far more at ease, and the group looks like it belongs.

A mixed group has its own balance too, with the quieter females setting off the males as they colour up.

White Sock, White Spot, Caridina dennerli. It's popular all over, so it has picked up a few along the way.

It's also one of the easiest Sulawesi shrimp to keep and fairly forgiving, and this orange eye form puts a rarer twist on a well-loved classic.

The real Geophagus proximus is harder to find than its name suggests. ๐ŸŸ

It's rare in the hobby, and the name often gets attached to shipments of other Geophagus species.

Here's how to tell: a dark cheek marking, flanks with no bars, and one large oblong mark along the middle of the body.
