“I do not want to practise.” A child may not know how to explain that the keys feel uneven, that one note jumps out too loudly, or that their hands feel tense when they try to play. They may not have the words for “touch consistency” or “keyboard response”.
They only know that sitting down at the piano feels harder than it should. This is why the instrument at home matters.
A more balanced piano gives the hands a clearer sense of trust. When the touch feels consistent, students can focus less on fighting the instrument and more on listening, shaping, and improving. Practice becomes more comfortable. Repetition feels less frustrating. Progress feels more possible.
This is one of the reasons many parents and students spend time finding their “perfect” piano. In many ways knowing how to select and care for your instrument is also a part of learning the piano.
